  1. Today was my daughter's birthday and she wanted to eat out at Chili's. They
don't have a LC menu (I think I read that they used to?) but they served our
mushroom swiss burgers on a nice bed of lettuce, and subbed sauteed
mushrooms, peppers, and onions rather than fries. It was a wonderful meal.
I don't know the exact carb count but I was glad that they had such good
options. I believe the meal was $6.95-ish, to me that's not only a good LC
option but also a good bargain, for a restaurant. Since for lunch we each
had a chicken breast fried up with a little chopped bacon, green beans, and
brussels sprouts for hubby, today was a really delicious day.

They also have reasonable hot wings (Wings over Buffalo, the other ones
are breaded), a very good grilled shrimp caesar salad, and a current
special of steak and portabello mushroom skewers (just ask for more
    veggies instead of rice).

    Yes, I eat out a lot. 😉

Just curious...Are you surrently losing weight or in a maintenance phase? I
am asking because when I am trying to lose weight if I eat at one of those
places, even though I think I make a good choice and don't pig out it tends
to stall me. So, this time around I am trying to stay away.

  4. Chili's is my wife's favorite restaurant. I usually complain about
going there because the selection is sort of limited. I get either the
monterey chicken without barbequeue sauce, or a steak. Their steaks
are so-so, but good enough. I also eat the tops off the classic
nachos. And I usually eat a bowl of chili. I worry about the
ingredients in the chili, but it doesn't seem to screw me up the next
    day, so it's probably safe.

Hubby and I don't particularly care for it either. We accomodated our
daughter on her birthday but now we won't have to go back there for
    another
year, if then - lol. On my own birthday, a nice backyard BBQed steak done
just how I like it by my loving husband is the best birthday dinner I can
    imagine.

What restaurants do you find are best for low carb eating?

As far as those chain places my vote goes to On The Border for the Fajita
Salad. Also Ruby Tuesday for the LC menu, salad bar and killer LC
    cheesecake.

  8. Yes, their low-carb cheesecake is excellent. They have a good low-carb
menu. I go to the Ruby Tuesdays on Wisconsin Ave. in Washington, DC and
they have low-carb Marguarits's (sp) to drink!

    out!

I've lost 110 lbs since 8/1/5, though the rate has slowed somewhat as
I've dropped below 200, and am 12 lbs from my goal - my college fencing
    weight of 185.

I try to maintain ~1300-1500 calories per day and under 30 net carbs.
    Sample favorites:

Joe's Crab Shack - steamed dungeness crab, usually 2 of 'em. - 280
cals, 2 carbs. I should dip 'em in butter for the fat but like them
plain so I don't. Ignore the potatoes and corn.

    El Pollo Loco - Four-piece-chicken-only-no-sides-no-tortillas,
large-diet-coke-for-here-please. Say it fast and it sounds like
    singing. $8.06 - 476 cals, 0 carbs per EPL.

Outback - Shrimp on the barbie, grilled salmon, broccoli, side caesar.
678 cal, 8 carb (including a tablespoon butter for the broccoli).
    Ignore the bread and croutons.

Point Loma Seafood - (ok, not useful if you aren't in San Diego, but
points out how easy it is to eat out) Seared ahi caesar salad - 374
    cal, 5 carb.

Emiliano's (can do similar at On The Border) - camerones apretados
(grilled shrimp wrapped in bacon), chicken caesar salad (I eat a lot of
caesar salads because I like them and they aren't too likely to have
carby dressings or other contents). 697 cal, 8 carb including the half
a carrot I eat because they have the best hot pickled carrot slices.

Claim Jumper - small blue cheese wedge salad, rotisserie chicken,
grilled asparagus. 867 cal (over a third of which is blue cheese
    dressing and butter), 14 carb.

All numbers are FitDay INCLUDING fiber, since the online version doesn't
let you subtract it out, unless otherwise specified.

Stay away from the breads, obviously, try to order fairly simple things
so you know what's in them, and be honest about portion sizes and
tracking them until you know what specific places serve. When in doubt
have a chicken caesar salad. Sauces are the biggest concern - hot wing
sauces and BBQ sauces are all over the map carb wise.

(shrug) My $.02, it's what has worked for me, and it's sustainable. I
usually have no breakfast, a late lunch, dinner, and maybe a couple
ounces of cheese before bed, all washed down with an absolutely
    ridiculous amount of diet soda.

    Hope this helps.

  11. I like outback a lot. Their vegies are probably the best of all the
chain restaurants. I usually get the prime rib. It's a bit expensive
though. We usually go to lonestar every tuesday night. I like it
less, but it's kids-eat-free night and we have six kids, so that wins.
