personal experience I can say that overdoing it will not help. You have done 45 miles in 4 days -
compare that to what you could do 2 months ago and there's a big difference. Listen to your body.
If it is telling you that it is tired, then don't ride.
yes, these thoughts definately agreeing with mine - ive now done 60 miles this week so far with
tonights ride, im getting a lift in tomorrow instead of riding in as tonight felt tough with a
crappy headwind and my knees are aching a bit so another rest day for them ... might also
adjust saddle upwards another half or 1 inch, which will be about the max i can go to see if
helps with the knees
Quoted message said:Part of your problem is that home to work is a fixed distance that is long for a new rider. Is it
possible to not ride to work, but go for a shorter evening ride instead?
been thinking about this very thing ... it is possible but with the dark mornings/nights around the
corner i dont fancy it ... i know id get home most nights and not get on the bike, instead just
chomp through my dinner and curl up on the sofa!
a lot will depend on the dark nights and how i view them and the ride home as until it happens i
wont know if i'll want to ride in that - dont really know how well lit it is, etc. this would leave
me with my lunch hour to go out for roughly an hours ride during daylight which is possible and
could be challenging as the area im in is surrounded by hills ... and i could just do a fairly
circular route around the office of a few laps, so if i have maintenance issues then wouldnt take
long to walk back in ...
also, could open up another area of cycling as im just near cannock chase so could get me a mtb and
do some off road at lunch times which as i think of it sounds cool too ... i'll have to go up and
have a look round tomorrow lunch time and see how it is
anyone cycle cannock chase, is it an off road haven of cycling?
dunno, have to wait and see ... i only have 1 week now before my holiday of 2 weeks to florida - the
most strenous activity being full r&r
whatever happens, enjoying it so far - hope the dark nights dont put me off the commute, but if it
does i'll have the lunch hour to play with to keep it up during the week and the weekends too
time will tell 😉
