Resprays

£60-70 for a decent job in plain enamel. Google for Mario Vaz.

Mario Vaz repainted my Stumpjumper frame last year: it cost about £45 I
think for a custom colour in stove-baked enamel. It looked lovely - at
first. But the paint is disappointingly fragile and has chipped very easily
right down to the metal. A few coats of polyurethane varnish on top of the
paint might be worth specifiying.

Wherabouts in Sussex? In Crawley (Pease Pottage) there's Universal
Applied Coatings - general industrial paint spraying company. Did my
daughter's bike for 30 quid, cash. Single colour, no decals.

For powder coating there's a firm at Hobbe's Industrial Estate,
Felbridge just north of East Grinstead. Did my tandem for 90 quid.

Argos do resprays but their website seems to be [censored]-up at the moment.

From about £50 upward from a bicycle-specific sprayer. You might find
cheaper, but you may have to mask threads etc. or be prepared to cut back
the finish if using an industrial finisher who isn't used to bicycles.

Many bike shops act as agents for the bigger finishers.

I think it's more common to strip chrome chemically, but there's no reason
not to have your forks refinished to match the frame. Rechroming is
expensive.

The previous owner of my Kona had it resprayed by Colourtech - orange
lacquer over metallic silver paint, with parts masked off to allow the
silver to show through. It's not really to my taste, but the paint is tough
and well-applied.

I'm south of Horsham, so Crawley is well within striking distance.

Thanks very much to all who replied, there's a lot of useful info there
for me to dig through. I'm looking forward to getting it cleaned up and
shining again...
