  1. Is this yet another useless gizmo, or a real training device?
They say pro-cyclists use similar device.
It is more convincing than a magnetic bracelet.

this reminds me of a device I saw advertised once that plugged into the
cigarette lighter in the car...it's trade name was "Autosuck"...it wasn't
    a portable vacuum cleaner...

Looks interesting. I'd be interested in hearing from some people who
    have used it.

I use this one that I got from Bob Anderson about 8 years ago. Works
    well for me.

I think these, or similar devices are used by musical instrument players or
    Asthma patients.
I don't see why it won't help athletes as well. I wanted to hear from those
    actualy tried.
    Thanks

Best I can tell from the line drawing, Ozzie, you've got a cheap small
hookah. The fact that shipping is "4.20", ahem... that pretty well
    seals it.

Alright, if you want to call it "respiratory training", don't let me
    stand in your way! ;-)

    Charlie,

Never did. Actually about two years ago I was worried that my shortness
of breathe had to do with those early years of using the wrong kind of
hookah ingredients. Found out that lungs were us to capacity. It was
more the effect of using a natural statin: Red Rice Extract.

The impact of statins for people vary. I've seen people lose up to 60
or 70% of muscle strength because of their statins. As statins interfer
with muscle development...reason for having people also take CoQ 10.

Anyway, it worked. The only problem is to keep practicing. So I also
took up playing the digeridoo: http://LAOutback.com and learned
circular breathing. It's helped. Here's an article about using them
for sleep apnea and snoring. I ended up using Snorban:
http://www.snorban.com/ Works wonders. Has helped save one or two
marriages when I told some friends about it. Been using my mouthpiece
for about 4 or 5 years now. Wife truly appreciates the difference...and
    the relative quiet.

    Great stuff, Oz!

    In February William Barton (http://www.williambarton.com.au/)
performed with the Brooklyn Philharmonic, and after the pieces took
five or ten minutes to explain some dig lore: how they're made and
employed in traditional society, how some of the sounds are meant to
evoke animals (or a turntable scratchin' DJ, as he also demonstrated),
and so forth. This guy's a terrific, engaging entertainer; see him
for sure if he ever shows up in San Diego. Better yet go jam with him!
