Hello everyone.. I just bought a used roadie and i love it! But i have no idea what to do when it comes to tuning or maintaining it. I'm thinking if someone experienced had this bike they could have it riding a lot better. I was having trouble shifting the other day, panicked, took it into the bike shop and they did a simple adjustment and it was fixed in 2 minutes! and it was shifting even more smoothly than when i first bought it.

Barnett's Manual: Analysis and Procedures for Bicycle Mechanics
I have it and it is amazing. Tells you everything that you would ever want to know. It is geared more towards a profesional shop but it has great check lists and trouble shooting charts and explain why and how things work. Kinda pricy at $80 but after reading the section on how derailuers work tuning them makes a whole lot more sense.
