Found this on a Colorado cycling club's website, I'm curious to know what
other Coloradans on this NG think of it, and what some of the law
enforcement people on this NG have to say.
A brief summary for those who haven't clicked on it yet: the page has the
Colorado State Patrol's free cell phone number, and urges anyone threatened
by an aggressive driver to call the CSP and give them the offender's license
plate number and vehicle description along with a description of the
incident. The page also links to a page on the CSP website which describes
unacceptable aggressive behavior as including, among other things, honking,
yelling, and obscene hand gestures.
Over the last few years I've sensed an increase in the number of drivers
yelling at me to "get the f**k off the road" or "get on the bike path" .
I've also had a few episodes in which a motorist swerved at me in a
threatening manner, and one episode in which an egg was thrown at me. The
egg throwing episode prompted me to buy a can of Mace and carry it, although
I'm sure the situations where Mace would help are limited. I'm tempted to
carry a pencil, notepad and cell phone and report some of the more blatant
offenders I encounter, just to see what kind of results I get.
Any comments?
