  1. So ... started last Friday

Saturday weight -2 Sunday weight -2 Monday weight same Tuesday weight +1 (building muscle after 30
    minutes of exercise Monday?)

At the end of each day I'm within 1 or 2 points (under) target. Problem ..... I'vee only drinking 4
    glasses of water.

    Today ...... Now and later

    Breakfast

2 eggs = 4 points (fried in spray (Pam)) 1 plain toast = 1 point (Arnold 100% whole wheat)

    Mid morning snack while driving

3/4 cup dry Puffins cereal = 1 point (I carry this in a baggie for munchies)

    Lunch

Subway 6" roasted chicken breast sub = 6 points

    Afternoon snack

Subway roasted chicken salad = 2 points

I'm eating all the subway stuff because I'll be out most of the day and it's within my target range.

    Total so far = 14

That leaves a lot for dinner.

Saving my 35 flex points for a birthday party for daughter on Thursday. Having slice 1/12 of cake
and 1 scoop of ice cream. About 20 points

I gotta tell ya ...... I'm really enjoying this.

My question is ... Since I can't use activity points for the first two weeks does this mean I
    shouldn't exercise during this time?

  2. Looks like you're doing great to me! Try not to weigh every day, because weight fluctuates with what
time of day, what you just ate and drank, etc. Maybe that will help. Also, that's great that you're
saving your 35 flex points for the birthday party, but a piece of cake is only 12 points for a 3"
square or 1/12 of a 9" layer cake (with icing) OR 1 slice (3 oz) of a store bought cake with icing
is only 7 points. One scoop of premium ice cream is 7 points and one scoop of regular ice cream is 4
points. Just don't make the mistake of counting things as too many points because then you fall into
the risk of not eating ENOUGH points, which can sometimes cause you to not lose. That's really
    frustrating!

Good luck keep up the good work! Focus on the water thing. I just drink two glasses at a time so I
can get it over with quicker!

  3. Good start. As for your exercise question. They introduce the Activity finder/calculator in week 3.
That does not mean that you should not do exercise for the first 2 weeks. It just means that you
don't know about the activity points that you can earn by exercising. So get your body moving....

As for your water <glug>, get a bunch of sports bottles and keep them filled in the refrig. Take one
with you at all times. I have a 30 minute drive to work. Most mornings I drink my bottle by the time
I get there. Ditto with driving home. And when ever you see the word WATER <glug> in these messages
you need to take another gulp. That ought to help too. <g>

  4. I am not sure about the activity points I have only taken them once, see a
post I will eventually write, but remember to no go under your target too
often, it may stall your losses. I love the choices, my big thing to get
"on the run" is the mcd's bacon ranch salad, 3 without chicken and 6 with,
both of these are no dressing. Never did do much dressing, Lee

Of course you can do exercise in the first two weeks. The problem is that when you start to exercise
after a period of doing none your muscles will complain and hurt. This can be associated with water
retention and an associated increase in weight. My guess is this will offset the initial weight loss
seen by most people coming onto a 'diet' for the first time, and you may find that you don't lose
much in the first couple of weeks. WW may think this will put people off (if they do they are
    probably right).

If you are serious about exercise then eat plenty of protein (25%+) and build up slowly. Mix cardio
with weights if you can. You can build muscle with exercise but it takes a lot of hard work and it's
even slower to build muscle than it is to lose fat. The weight gains people see when starting
exercise are water gains not muscle.

If you weigh every day you should see that your weight will vary all over the place depending on
food, drink, ablutions, clothing, etc. You may see a weekly cycle so you could pick a day when you
are particularly light as your WI day. The problem is that peoples weight varies by maybe 5 pounds
or more over a week with a reasonable loss being 1 pound it can get lost quite easily.

    Good luck

  6. hehehe - I doubt that +1 has anything to do with building muscle after 30 minutes of exercise ...
but has everything to do with the body retaining water to aid healing those old ignored muscles of
    the past. <G>

Can I make a suggestion? Don't weigh yourself everyday! In the beginning it will only cause bouncing
between ecstasy and frustration - later in the game pretty much just frustration as the losses begin
to slow down. I do weigh every day now, but I've also been following the program for 2 years
(geeeeeeesh, just realised today is my 2 year ww anniversary!!!). I know the ups and downs are
normal flucuations of fluids, wastes, etc. Even something as simple as eating just a bit later one
evening will affect the results of a daily weigh in. Weekly trends will give you much more realistic
results, as well as saving your sanity.

Drink that water, then drink some more! I have a tendency to be lax in this department also - I live
on coffee in the morning, push water in the afternoon ... and forget it in the evenings. <sigh>
Something that I continually have to work on.

Your daily menu doesn't look too bad! And that is exactly what those flex points are for ...
enjoying life ... whether you plan ahead for a celebration, or just play it by ear as you go. Sounds
like you are doing great to me. <g>

Glad to hear you are enjoying things so far. I sometimes think I was really wierd because I enjoyed
ww every single day. I never felt deprived, nor did I feel anything was a hardship. I didn't miss
any food items, I just planned for them or made concessions at a later time. Basically, I assumed
responsibility for every item that I put into MY body. It was long overdue.

As far as the exercise. I don't think there is any hard and fast rule that you can't count exercise
points until later in the game. I think ww just doesn't introduce them until the 4th week in order
to not throw too much information into the mix when you first start out. I imagine that the majority
of participants haven't pursued much activity in the past, and could be pretty turned off if they
hear that nasty *E* word right away. <G> If you want to exercise, do it ... more power to you!

  7. Congrats on your WW anniversary. You make an excellent example of what is possible and you again
make it sound not that hard.

  8. Thanks Fred. Somedays are harder than others, but I think I'm now beginning to realize (or convince
myself) that it really isn't too difficult - unless I make things difficult. It's only a matter of
making those choices and sticking with them as often as I can. Back to that balancing act game. I've
also learned that I can easily become my own worst enemy. <sigh> No one else to blame ...
