I feel I have an excellent relationship with the shop. I bring them plates of baked goods and boxes
of chocolates. They do a fair bit of minor adjustments for free. I also seem to manage to spend a
fair bit -- just this last time, on gloves, a spare tube, a patch kit, etc. I think they know to
what degree I'm shopping for a new bike, and how many miles I have on this one.

Jim was not being skanky when he suggested I buy a new bike. He was also not being that serious.
That's why I labelled it as "an aside" of buying a new bike. When I actually do buy a new bike, I'll
spend probably at least twice what I did on this one.

I know that they are otherwise booked solid for a while in the repair shop -- pre-STP is one of the
busiest times of the year around here for repairs and maintenance. Still, within a day of them
reporting that they couldn't order me a new wheel and they'd have to rebuild the current one with a
new rim, it was finished and at home. I know the guy who did the work, and he's an excellent
technician. I'm looking forward to testing it out today.

I personally have no complaints.
