Renting travel cases?

Nowhere yet, just trying to workout a budget for a Keystone trip. I don't
think I'm
going to be able to pull it off in the time-frame I have; end of July.

My shop offered me a shipping box to use on a recent trip. They always keep
a few around and they work pretty well according to him.

Thanks for the warning. I wasn't even thinking about them getting
damaged; too worried about the frame & fork. And i just
remembered, don't forget to bring my torque wrench with me.

Trying to find a decent bag with casters and a 20mm fork adapter and not
pay $$$ isn't easy. I'm not too comfortable going
with the cardboard box unless I ship via UPS/FedEx ahead of me, but then
that method has its drawbacks.

I agree with you on this. I think it's cheaper to ship it FedEx and you
get more insurance (read: full insurance and not just $250). The only
airline now offering an IMBA freebie is Frontier. Also, if you ship
FedEx Ground, they always ship the bike overnight because of the size
and you don't pay extra (at least they have for me).

In April, I went round trip Boston, MA to St George, UT with UPS for $160
with $1500 insurance which was @ $12. You can figure out all the pricing on
their website.

I got tangled up with FedEx as they told me that they would not ground ship
as a "hold at depot".
Not sure if it was just a misunderstanding or what,,,,,,,,,,,

UPS took 5 days - it was great to have my bike for the 2 weeks - renting
would have been more $$$ and hassle. DTW

Just got off the phone with my friend in Denver; his next door neighbor
owns a DHL depot, I didn't know they had franchises, so might
be able to get a shipping discount. I used to work for UPS so I know how
to pack it well.

FYI: I had the time-frame screwed up; it's not late July, but late Aug.,
which makes the trip a much better prospect. I'm still waiting
for my brakes to hit my door step, also need to send my Fox RP3 to PUSH,
then finish assembly and get everything dialed in. Oh yeah,
and get my fat ass is some kind of [human] shape.
