Watching the news, I was stunned to see a DWB member virtually begging to be
allowed into an isolated disaster area to render aid and having local
authorities brush them off with a "...we'll get back to you tomorrow".
Probably need time to figure out how to profit from the offer.

I imagine there are a lot of logistical problems they have to deal with. I saw a
reported badgering Koffi Annan about why he wasn't going there to offer support.
He responded that they preferred to use their resources to render aid and that
they would just be in the way of relief efforts.

Was in Banda Aceh? That area of Indonesia has been off limits to aid
workers for a while because of a long-standing insurrection. The
national government recently lifted the ban since it's at the center
    of the destruction.

One sincerely hopes that profiteering will be minimal.

That's where our relief money went to also, Michael.

As did ours. We contribute to them every year, but decided that the
lion's share of our end-of-year contributions were to be sent there.
