Maybe my thin friends have a higher
metabolism, or maybe they have a signal in their bodies that says "You're
full, don't eat any more" and maybe I don't have that signal.

It astounded me to find that I had been missing that signal. I rediscovered
it about a week into taking thyroxine for my underactive thyroid. I never
remember feeling full (unless I'd really been gorging), but all of a sudden
I had an off switch! I notice it working a lot now - I left some of my bowl
of chili at lunch because I'd had enough. Still an ongoing miracle : )

: But the truth is, hey, yeah, it isn't fair, but you have to play the hand
: you're dealt. If I want to be healthy, I have to watch what I eat, no
: matter what anyone else does. Maybe my thin friends have a higher
: metabolism, or maybe they have a signal in their bodies that says "You're
: full, don't eat any more" and maybe I don't have that signal. That just
: means I have to work harder at it.

I think that lack of "you're full!" signal is a good part of my problem with
weight over the years. I will be with people who are saying "Oh, I'm so
stuffed!" or "I couldn't eat one more bite!" and yet I don't feel full at
all. So, I have learned to look at the food and say to myself "This is what
you should eat and feel full. Don't eat any more." I recently read that
this problem is a lack of leptin.

How do you know what sense I mean it in? I mean getting regular physical
activity, not necessarily working out at a gym every day.

That's the sense you meant it and that the sense I understood it.
"Exercise" does not have to be "gym bound" and for the life of me, Luna,
you should know that I have never been, nor ever will be, "gym bound" when
    it comes to exercise.

I train athletes. Do you think they are always "gym bound" for training?

Now, settle back into your chair and take a deep breath and go dislike
    someone else for the evening.

Anyway, I'm curious about the statistics for people who have successfully
maintained a significant weight loss for a significant period of time. You
said most of them don't exercise. Can you point me to a study that
    confirms that?

As soon as you show me your credentials, history and expertise to decipher
    the same.

Since you can't, and since you must pay no attention to my hundreds of
posts, I don't need studies to confirm what I see on a daily basis for over
    a decade.

I agree. We are tuned in to a quick fix mentality. How sad. Most everything
    worth doing takes real time.

very well be wrong, but I don't recall your ever saying before that most

I will not discount your experience simply because it was not an "official"

whom this is true to make it a significant data point.

When I read something that runs counter to what I'd been lead to believe,
it piques my curiosity. I was not challenging what you said, I was only
trying to initiate a more in depth discussion on the topic. You say "this

too ignorant to understand. If you are confident in the accuracy of your
statement, then you would have no need to deflect curiosity by turning the
topic towards my ability or lack thereof to understand your evidence.
That is tactic used only by those who have no evidence.
