The examples that Tim states are overstated. They are
concentrated forms of lectin purified and reacted directly
with red blood cells. This is done only in a laboratory
setting and has been done for many years. It is also
misleading to imply that anaphylactic shock, which is an
allergic reaction, to anything related to red cell
agglutination in vitro. When it comes to gastritis, most of
the population will be type A or type O so the percentage of
the population is so large as to be useless related to blood
types. You might as well say everybody should eat or not eat
such and such.
H.pylori infection is related to Lewis Leb antigen in which
the bacteria attaches to. Type O people have a slighter
higher incidence compared to A people in ulcers because
type O has no antigens compared to A people who have A
substance. In short there will be more binding sites (Leb)
in type O compared to type A.

Other topics include cancer and other loose associations
with ABO. It is fruitless to know what your blood type is as
it really doesn't help in determining disease. The
differences in disease associations are very slight to be of
little help. Most of the blood type associations have been
developed in relation to function of the antigenic
determinants in relation to disease. For example in the
acquired type A antigens of some cancer patients. These are
can serve as tumor markers in checking for metastasis. They
check for A antigens in the tumor itself and not in the
blood. Genetics is a major contributor to disease and any
genetic marker is of help as long as it is specific. ABO is
a genetic marker but not at all specific for any disease. I
know of no disease that is exclusive of only one ABO type.
There are many diseases who have a slight difference in ABO
distribution but none are exclusive. As a matter of fact not
all type A's are the same as there are many subgroups of A
including A2,A3,An etc. A1 lectins will only agglutinate A1
blood types not the others. Without exclusivity in disease
associations there is no use in a diet that in itself

reason there is none is because of the genetics of
inheritence. Some are heterozygous meaning both alleles are
present and some are homozygous for that antigen. Most
