I will run lights if there is no cross traffic. It is silly to stop if there is nothing to wait for. How is that unsafe?
all helps the debate...we have two weeks to go on this poll...
good to have your input
happy "hanakamas" one and all
"riding a bicycle requires intelligence, skill and courage to live---driving a car requires a breath now and then and the ability to turn a key, and ensuring all the human traits of tolerance, fair mindedness, sharing and respect for life along with the experience and joy of years of human love are purposefully ignored for the duration-anon".
when combining a few of the similar points there is a large proportion that find stopping and getting back up to traffic speed as a major factor in not wanting to obey red lights.
this could suggest a "green wave" traffic light synchronisation system could help with more compliance and improve on road bicycle numbers as well...and give bicycles ( as vehicles) better integration into vehicular traffic patterns and flow...( and less angst and irritation from drivers).
some aggresive or impatient drivers might not like a somewhat slower average speed ( maybe it wont be that much slower if at all), for inner city areas especially on commute...
