A big Thank You to all that responded to my concerns. Lots of great info to absorb. Almost everyone
seems to agree that a new muscle group has to be developed and a better Recumbent will do the trick.
I plan to go to Phoenix on Monday and start testing lots of models to get a good fit and seat that
suits me. My budget is not just strictly for Actionbent. It's just that they group there feels that
for the money you get a lot better machine and I was following their advice. I should have a
Recumbent in about A month and will do a lot of riding to get the right developed muscle group
going. Hope to be able to do the Skull Valley run (with lots of pushing) by this time next year.

A word of warning about Ajo Bikes (not the strore itself) - Do NOT consider looking at the Turner
bikes they sell (I beleive Milt lives in Tucson)..I've had a deplorable experience with Turner and

you can and put up with the slower climbing then a real lightweight recumbent bike will be good; if
you are after long-haul comfort and want to be sure that you will make the top of any hill you come
across then a trike may be the way to go. I have seen trikes with gears in the low tens of inches
that will not only go up the side of a barn but tow the tractor behind them as they do so ;-)I look forward to hearing your experiences.

That's an interesting point of view. I've been riding in Phoenix for a year and bought bikes for
both my wife and myself here 3 years ago. I've found the selection at Recumbent Central in Phoenix
to be more than sufficient for my choices. Jim's got quite a selection of bikes, which we all take
the opportunities to test ride. Including, I might add, a Tour Easy and a RANS Tailwind.Mark

Beth,
Not in northern NJ. If it's 30 degrees or above, we rode. Plus, if you have a good LBS, on a cold
winter afternoon your LBS is one of the best places to hang out, have a cup of coffee, and talk
bikes -- all kinds of bikes. Plus, it's always a good time to spend that Christmas gift certificate.
One other reason is that scads of bikes are sold as Christmas presents.Cheers

I live in London, Ontario, Canada. In this area- most bike stores go for reduced hours, lay staff
off, do inventory counts and take annual vacations. For about ten years, one bike shop closes every
October until April while the owners cycle tour around the lower United States.
