suppose i was to compete in a endurance race that lasts one week. would the recumbent make it easier to finish?

If you had trained on the recumbent it should. Jumping off your upright onto the bent and trying to do a week endurance would be a bad move. You need to build your bent legs - you use different muscle groups on a bent.One of the reasons bents are good distance machines is the vastly reduced energy wasted on pain. Riding in pain is less energy efficient. I forget why, but my personal experience bears this out.

I did my first touring in 20 years last year on my bent. It was great. When I toured years ago on my DF, I recall a lot more pain. So, even though I'm older, I can do a century with little pain. I sure sleep well in my tent afterwards though!
