  1. I have (2001) XT shifter/brake system on my bike now, with Avid mechs for
the brake system. I got a line on some Hayes Sole hydro brakes, and if I
decide to get them, will have to change shifters too. Any recomms for
shifters to work with my existing XT front/rear der? The Shimanos will of
course work, but what about compatible SRAMs, if any? Thanks!

Sram Attack will work and they also come in Grip shifters.

    Grip shift = [censored] shift.

I seem to remember reading that a SRAM derailleur shifter won't work with
Shimano components. Something about a 1 to 1 ratio of the cable pull on
SRAM and it's different on Shimano?

or maybe not,,,,,,,,,,,,, Jenson could tell you
