Oh, I love this salad, used to make it years ago. I think I used brocoli
instead of cauliflower but the rest was the same.

Yeah, and for some reason this one seems to have everyone who tries it
asking for the recipe - I thought the hundreds of versions of this
were all about the same, but there must be something different. Only
thing I can think of is the WC's or the parmesan, but I thought those
    were pretty standard.

Around here, we don't mix it; just serve it as layered. Ya just dig
down. <80) I like that salad; haven't made it in years and years. The
hazard of a small family and one who doesn't entertain.

Yes, at least in every version I've seen.

Sorry - yes, drained - and I rinse them a few times with water to get
rid of the "metal can" taste. BTW, I still can't figure why it's
called 7-layer - there are more components than that.

Over time, people add and delete things to a recipe like this.
E.g: My 7-Layer/Hello Dolly bars only have six layers, even if
you count the butter and graham cracker crumbs as separate
    layers.)

The 7-layer salad around here is lettuce, bacon bits, peas, mayo,
Cheddar cheese, scallions and something else I forget...not necessarily
in the order I listed. No broccoli, cauliflower or stuff like
    that-there.
