  1. This I've got to try:

    Popcorn Con Pesto

    5 quarts popped popcorn
    1/2 cup melted butter
1 tablespoon dried basil leaves, crushed*
    1 teaspoon dried parsley, crushed
    1 teaspoon garlic powder
    1/3 cup Parmesan cheese
    1/2 cup pine nuts (optional)

Put popped popcorn in a large bowl and keep warm. In small saucepan, melt
the butter; add basil, parsley, garlic, Parmesan cheese and nuts. Stir to
    blend.

Pour over popped popcorn, stirring well.

    Yield: 5 quarts.

*Dried thyme or oregano, or combination of ingredients, may be used in
    place of basil.

Never tried it, but my mind suggests that I would like it better with
    fresh basil, parsley and garlic.

That's not very far off a Pizza Popcorn I used to make years back. It
actually became the passion of a famous newsman who was our neighbor. I
gave him a huge basket full of it, like gallons, for Christmas one year
and by the end of the day it was gone. He was thin. Then he died... do
you think it was the popcorn?

I doubt that would work well. I think it
would be difficult to stir in a semi-liquid
    glop like that into popcorn.

I'd get a large plastic bag (about 50% more
volume than the popcorn), pour the flavoring
(not hot) into the bag, run the bag between
my hands to distribute the flavoring uniformly
on the inside of the bag, fill the bag with
popcorn, close the bag (if it's a zip-lock type)
or hold it closed with one hand, and while
holding the other end with the other hand
shake the heck out of it. This will distribute
the flavoring equally, so each piece gets
    about the same amount.

I'd use real pesto. Your recipe substitutes
butter for olive oil. And dried for frech.
One tablespoon of basil and one teaspoon of
garlic seems rather spare, more like a pesto-
flavored butter. But with lots of cheese
and nuts. I just can't imagine stirring that
into popcorn and getting a uniform result.
