    Curry Cheese Ball

    Recipe By :
    Serving Size : 12 Preparation Time :0:00
    Categories : Appetizers

Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method
    -------- ------------ --------------------------------
    2 pk (8oz) cream cheese
    1/2 Jar Major Grey Chutney
1/2 lb Bacon, cooked & crumbled
1 c Green onion, finely chopped
    2 tb Sour cream
    2 tb Curry powder
    3/4 c Raisins
    1 1/2 c Nuts, chopped

Mix all ingredients except nuts. Shape into two balls and roll in
chopped nuts. Chill. Serve with crackers, e.g., wheat thins.

Notes: The cheese balls can be frozen. Also, you can pour the
remaining chutney over the cheese ball - messy, but good - however, I
like it best without this additional chutney garnish.

Sounds really good. Not one bite huh? Well join the club. I used to knock
myself out at the former employers bashes and seldom got a nibble. What
finally did me in was the Gorgonzola/Brie torte. No one touched it. From
then on it was weenies in BBQ sauce or chicken wings which they gobbled
    down like cannibals.

I finally got to the point where my only contribution would be a bag of
chips. It seemed like the more you knocked yourself out the less people
would appreciate it. I mean when they ooh and ah over "baked" Van de Camps
beans or Hormel chili from a can or a Tombstone frozen 'za or greezy grizly
rib tips fer cryin' out loud why even bother...

I think Wayne means everyone ate it up, so he didn't get any.

That's the way I read it, too.

I must travel in a different crowd. Every time there's a pot luck here, 99
percent of the food is home made and really good. There's usually someone
who cops out with something like a store-bought shrimp tray, but what the
heck, it's cold shrimp, not rocket science. Wouldn't be much different if
they bought it raw and cooked it.

Now and then someone will show up with something they picked up at a local
restaurant or deli or something, but even those choices are decent.

My office crowd actually makes some pretty good dishes, although not always
terribly creative. Nonetheless, most are very tasty. Same for the church
we go to. I've been a guest at others, however, that I'd wish I had passed
    on. Ugh!

It sounds delicious to me. I might make it with bacon first to see
(my partners will take it off my hand if I dislike it) just for a
    baseline.

I have made, to good effect, on several occasions, a blue and brie mac
and cheese, assembled in an oven proof dish and sprinkled with pan
toasted garlic butter bread crumbs & a bit of freshly grated parmesan
and put in a hot oven for a few minutes for the cheese to melt down into
the bread crumbs, even brown a bit.

The specific recipe i was inspired from calls, in some of its
variations, to add nutmeg but i leave it out, though i do like sauted
chicken livers in a creamy cheese sauce with pasta add a few fresh peas
to that and it gets close to another legendary dish i hesitate to even
mention (smoked ham & fresh peas in a lemon cream sauce over pasta).
