recent torture revelations, but considering his former POW

The "principaled" part of that is what makes him a not-so-
good "politician", at least as we see what that is right
now. I do agree with your take on him, though. With the
Bush admin., politics takes precedence over policy 100%
of the time.

One interesting note on the torture stuff: General
Antonio Taguba (who wrote the report that got leaked to
Sy Hersh and started the ball rolling on this) might have
some thoughts about torture due to the fact that his
father had been on the Bataan Death March in WWII.
Somehow, he escaped and survived.
