My fixer is currently running a rather shonky machine built wheel with
el cheapo hub and galvanised spokes. It's about 4 years old, and
spokes are starting to break (it's not a well built wheel). I've had
stainless spokes put in to replace the broken ones, but some of the
existing ones are still slack and have run out of thread, if that
makes any sense.
Anyway, I'd like to put a half decent wheel in it's place, double
butted stainless spokes, mid range Mavic rim etc.
Asking at Evans was met with blank looks, another LBS said they could
build something up if I procured a hub. The same LBS also recommended
I try Pearsons in Sutton. They had one for 122 notes, no details of
the spec. I wasn't thinking of spending that much.
So assembled brains of urc, what are my choices? Any recommendations
for a complete wheel? Or for a hub to take into my LBS?
