rear shock upgrade?

For some of us, that would be a downgrade.

You may want to mention the type of trails you ride and you're riding
style.

What type of riding do you do?
How much do you want to spend?
How adjustable do you want it?
Which shock is currently on it?

Air isn't specifically going to be an 'upgrade'.

A "magic band-aid" will not make it a better bike. Stick with the OEM
shock. BTW, do a Google search on the "magical" 5th element shock and
see how many have blown up.
