You Nike-haters crack me up. I've been running mostly in the Air Pegasus
and have been getting 400 to 500 out of them. My Asics do seem to last a
little longer, but saying Nikes are only good for 50 or 100 seems kind of
silly.

We are "nike haters" for a reason, they suck. You are 1) a light
runner, 2) have no pronation issues or running style defects, 3) don't
do heavy mileage, and 4) are ignorant about running shoes. Yep, you're
a nike guy allright.

"They suck" is such a coherent and detailed argument. Let me guess: You
also run Linux because Microsoft "sucks." Or you use a Mac because Intel
"sucks." And you drive a Dodge Truck because the Japanese "suck."

Yes, I am 1) a light runner; 2) have no pronation issues or running style
defects; 3) don't do heavy mileage (I'm pretty comfy staying fit at 25-30
miles a week).

But "ignorant about running shoes" -- that's for someone who falls back
on "Nike sucks, so all their shoes suck" and then claims the shoes last
for just 50 to 100 miles.

When was the last time you actually bought and ran in Nikes?

As an experiment, and even on the advice of some folks here, I've tried
several neutral-cushioned shoes from several makers. For reasons of
comfort or fit or whatever, I always go back to my Nikes or my Asics.

One reason: In terms you understand, the others sucked. Well, their
companies suck. But I'll present a reason why: Not many of them even
bother to make wide width running shoes in the better styles. Nike and
Asics do.

Oh, yeah. You suck, too.

?? i don't know about that and don't they both take a far backseat
compared to NB when it comes to width considerations in delivering
running shoes to runners? i think so. NB is king of that department
guys.

i'll throw you both a bone. nikes run narrow across all
lines/models/etc. don't ask me why, they just do. nikes last 50-100
miles? well that is a factual statement as the mayfly last exactly 62
miles, according to nike. they're not ashamed of that....that's in
fact the intent.

Gate Runner seems to know what he's talking about...and I give him some
humor points. Newsdude knows his running, can fire right back and I
score this a "draw".
Now why don't you both run along and get a pair a Mizunos....you'll
feel better 🙂

Well, actually, now that you broadened the discussion, I agree 100% that
Microsoft sucks. I do own nothing but Apple Mac's and run on their Unix
operating system. Life is good in the Mac world where things just work
and there hasn't been a computer virus, worm, trojan horse, spyware, or
adware since two entire operating systems ago, OS 8 -- I think that's
been since '98 or so.

So, good rhetorical argument about the stupidity of critiquing based on
the nuanced "sucks" verb/adjective. But when applied to Microsoft and
Windows, it's true!
