This type of squat impresses me a whole lot more then a PL sqaut, with
    that
typical wide stance, feet 3 feet apart, a belt that could strangle an
elephant and knee wraps so thight that these guys walk like ducks before
they made it to the bar. This guy didnt use any of the above.

Yeah. i've squatted 280 kgs (617) in competition with the above
mentioned style and I couldn't even come close to this weight in a
hi-bar squat. Very impressive. Especially since he isn't fat and
bouncing his belly off his thighs.

That is a huge squat. I didn't add up the plates, but to me if it is 295
kg that is like a 400 kg PL style squat.

I remember a lift from, i believe Khaki Kakiasvilli (?) at the Olympics in,
i believe 96, when after the clean, he jerked the weight, but did NOT even
bother to split. He just ducked, as if it was a partial overhaed squat. His
    feet didnt move one inch.

That was probably the most impressive lift i ever saw.

Another impressive "feature" about weightlifting is the [censored], but
performed in such a way that the quads dont drop below parallel, and they
get up in a split second. This is usually done in the first or second lift.

Many lifters now - most notably Greek lifters Pyrros Dimas and Leonidas
Sampanis - use a power jerk rather than a split jerk. Dimas made a huge
lift in 1996 with the power jerk where he lost it a bit and just kept
dropping under and managed to recover. There are some notable Chinese
lifters who use a full squat jerk.

    http://www.chidlovski.net/liftup/e_movie_theater.asp

(Scroll down to 90's and Zhan of China)

Which is pretty freaky. Both styles require exceptional shoulder
flexibility and of course the power jerk requires notable strength.

The focus in the [censored] is on bar height and power, so many lifters
don't go any lower than they have to. Normally you can do about 90% of
the full movement as a 'power' move without dropping under completely.
So if the person opens fairly light it isn't uncommon not to completely
    drop under the bar.

Weightlifting is fun. I enjoy training this style much more than I do
    powerlifting style training.

When I worked at GNC we sold the occasional bottle of Goldenseal Root,
but that was primarily for beating a marijuana urinalysis according to

Hmm. I'm thinking t-shirts. Pete cartoon on the front. Massive

He would have dumped it back off his shoulders. Oh, wait, he DID dump
the bar. I believe deliberately and safely. Did you miss that part of
    the video?

The safety equipment included the squat racks although, yeah, they
seemed rather precarious at at least one part of the vid. Still, the
man was boss of that bar and plates combo. This was obviously NOT a
limit lift or personal best attempt. He was performing!

    Bravo.

One caveat. You only learn to dump the weight if you are using bumper
plates like oly lifters do. A powerlifter should never dump the
weight nor should he ever squat heavy without a spotter(s).
