"You started it with all the homosexual
insults, you don't think that says volumes about you? JC has plenty of
faults to focus on, without insulting an entire group of people. If you
don't care who he screws, then why such a major focus on it? And is
there something particularly heinous about being a transvestite, while
we're at it? Or a dwarf? Why not sling insults at HIM, rather than gays,
    transvestites, and dwarfs?

Are you brain dead? Do I ned to explain AGAIN?

First of all, NO, I did not "start" it. der Konehead started it with his
first smarmy reply to my first post---as he does to every nevcomer.
Because he's an angry, rude, lame, pathetic [censored]. Find an "insulting"
post of mine tha was NOT preceeded by an insulting post TO me.

Spare me your civil rights drivel regarding TV's, gays and dwarves,
    please.
When was the last time YOU took a dwarf to lunch? Ever even known a TV?

Why would you give a [censored], anyway? You're the Robin Hood of minorities?
Funny....I dont remember seeing you at a single Southern Comfort
convention, or even the annual Easter Drag Race--200 drag queens running
down Peachtree street in high heels, raising money for AIDS. That would
be ME, in the booth, selling Rainbow decals and teeshirts. Where were
    you?

Lemmee guess....you wouldnt, just by chance, be a lesbian feminist?

That would certanly explain the dullness and complete lack of sence o
humor. Now there's a minority I truly DO dislike. The MOST boring,
uptight, talent-less people on the planet must be the granola-fed,
    vegetarian, chem-free PC dykes.

    LOL--go to a Gay boy's brunch and
you're guaranteed to find a marvelous display of fancy goodies, a
fabulous table-scape and jazz. Go to a lesbian bring-a-dish and you'll
see a dozen green bean and mushroom soup casseroles, a bucket of
Kentucky Fried and two stale bran muffins....with one Holly Near CD set
    on REPLAY.

true story- at the Woman Writes annual shindig for wanna-be writer's, a
lesbian feminist said she was offended by my calling her, "man" (as in,
"hey, man..."😉 Said she was "proud" to be a woman." There she
    stood...wearing men's pants, a man's shirt, men's hi-top sneakers, a
barber-shop haircut, men's Seiko watch...., smelling of sweat (REAL
women dont use deoderant) named, "Jack".

Let me make sure you're getting this. Are ALL lesbians boring, uptight,
talentless drones? NO. Only the granola-fed, vegetarian, chem-free PC
    dykes.

Hey...maybe you were at Woman Writes...were you the leader of the
"Modern Writing for Feminists" grouip? The one who cautioned us against
using phrases such as, "He turned a deaf ear to her complaints" (so as
not to mortally offend the deaf? (ooops I mean the
"hearing-challenged"😉, or "She was blind to his affection"? Or, Gof
Forbid, "She was in a BLACK mood"?

The PC movement is a blight on basic American Freedom of speech, or even
opinion--- and we have mostly the lesbian feminists to thank for it.

Every American owes it to themselves to go outside and SHOUT at least
five completely NON PC statements a day.

Here's mine: Go braid your armpits.

Is this going to be your continuing tactic when you get caught slinging

May 3, 2005 (but it was dinner, not lunch).

I just stumbled into this, having long since abandoned this particular
thread, but I have to add that people with dwarfism ARE people and some
of us DO know one or more of them. The one I know, John, has osteo
genesis imperfecta (aka brittle bone disease) and his entire life is
full of pain, both physical (over 30 operations) and psychological. It
hurts him TERRIBLY when people make fun of dwarfs.

Since it is an unusual condition, most people DON'T know anyone
afflicted with this condition, so it is easier to make light of it. I
just thought I'd add a bit of realism to the discussion; then I'm
    ignoring it again.

Irrelevant. You haven't learned the rules of UseNet
and so you're justifying the folks who complain about
    WebTV folks being clueless.

On Usenet there are people who are called trolls.
Trolls post in order to incite combat replies. You
have fed the local troll. In the process you have
encouraged him. Take a step back, read a couple
dozen of his posts, and ask yourself if encouraging
him is really a good idea.

Feel free to track down his ISP and lodge complaints
with them in an attempt to get his account pulled.
It's the correct line of action. It takes knowledge
and skill about computers to do.

    Sure. More than one.

Fun, but all this because you don't know you're not
    supposed to feed trolls.

  5. Quoted message said:

"Irrelevant. You haven't learned the rules
of UseNet and so you're justifying the
folks who complain about WebTV folks >being clueless." Doug F

Which might be "relevant" if it wasnt a fact that most (all) of the
Usenet trolls are PC users, not web tv users and that MOST of those who
"feed" them are ALSO PC users. making webber's not only NOT the trolls,
but an insigificant percentage of the 'feeders", too.

There are no trolls in web tv ngs because the owner of the ng can delete
obnoxious posts and/or ban a user from being able to post in that ng,
period. This is just ONE advantage of the web tv.

It aint web tv'er's fault that Usenet has trolls or that you have no way
    to get rid of them.

I wonder if you, being a PC'er are aware that webbers are just as
convinced of the cluelessness of most PC'ers?

All over the country are thousands of dead PC's, crashed, and burned,
never repaired. Thousands more went obsolete and replaced by the
newer,.fancier, more expensive one....which will also be obsolete soon,
and will take it's place beside the other in the garage.
They ALL crash, eventually....and are prone to viruses as well.

The average PC user uses his computer to read and send email, surf the
net and download music and photos.

A small percentage of "geeks" learn and/or use the full capacities of
their over-priced equipment and they ALONE didtn waste their money
buying way more potential than will ever be used..

MY definition of "clueless" is anybody who spenda a grand to buy a PC
that WILL crash, WILL become obsolete, is vulnerable to viruses, has a
small screen and requires sitting at a desk to use....when a web tv
serves the same purposes (email, net surfing, uploading photos) for
under 200 bucks, never crashes, gets upgrades free, is virus-proof and
can be comfortably used from an easy chair and seen on a 36" screen.

For all of you who can and DO use your PC's to something closer to their
full capability, Mazel Tov. But MOST of you dont.

Furthermore....the typical superiority that PCers seem to feel is based
on....what? Like it's some BFD, or "proves" something about
intelligence? PC users are hip, cool and clued-in?

Einstein didnt have one. Neither did Beethoven.

Show me a person who believes his computer prowess in any way signifies
his 'greater" intelligence and I'll show you a geek with nothing better
to do than play with his mouse, alone, for thousands of hours.

    That's "intelligence"?

    Gimme a frickin break.

You'll have to find something better to blame your troll problem on.
LOL--start with the PCers who ALSO dont follow Usenet Rules, outnumber
web tv'er 100-1 and are as clearly "clueless" as your own PC using,

There are no Usenet Rules in spite of what many will try to tell you. Troll
problems are greatly exacerbated by those who feed the trolls, it doesn't
matter what kind of hardware they are using to do so.

  8. FOB---I do wish we could manage funds on the webby---that would be
    handy.

I do like to do what I call "Imaging"--taking two, three, or more jpgs,
compositing them, diddling with hue, changing adding or removing
color...just generally fiddling around with any jpgs found at Google to
create what I think of as fine art.

Here's my gallery, if you'd like to take a peek. All this work was done
on my lowly web tv. Ive seen plenty of computer generated art---but
    frankly, mine is better.
    http://www.wtv-zone.com/LassChance/1_WEB_DESIGN/DIGITAL_ANARCHY.html

I more or less discovered, or invented this web tv art form. I spent
    hundreds of hours at
    http://www.imagemagick.org/MagickStudio/scripts/MagickStudio.cgi

learning to make banners, greeting cards and awards...then It occurred
to m that I could apply the same techniques to images...If I could
composite text onto a colored banner...why not composite images
together? If I could composite two images...why not three or four? (My
Blond at Table" is a composite of about five images, LOL)
If I could radically change, add or delete color from a banner....why
    not an image?

I began experimenting with that idea....and eventually web tv "Imaging"
evolved. I started a newsgroup to teach other people how to do it...and
now there are something like 400 web tv Imaging Artists.

We formed an Alliance of Imaging Artists and this is the Gallery of the
AIA. All these unbelievably talented people were my students--and I
    couldnt be more proud.
    http://www.wtv-zone.com/ISIS/AIA/AIA_HomePage.html/

The work done by ERSigs, Denise (da-Mom) and Dog daddy are especially
excellent. Oh, Hooper, too. Those artists have such unique styles that I
can recognise their work, unsigned---which is pretty amazing, since all
the work is done at Image Magic studio--Intertingly, I got an email from
the guy who created Image Magic Studio---saying he had no idea his site
could be used for the purpose of creating art--he intended it to be
basically a place to add text to banners, crop and edit photos, make
    cards, etc.

The "Art from Nothing" page was a special challenge---making fine art
starting with NO image--creating colored shapes, then manipulating them
    into some astonishing compositions.

    http://www.imagemagick.org/MagickStudio/scripts/MagickStudio.cgi

How do you mean you invented it? Which part did you invent? Your stuff
is cool, and I didn't do any of mine on web tv, but I was combining and
manipulating photos using Photoshop starting some time in 1999. I used
to hang out in a chat room for They Might Be Giants, and I used photos
of the members. I used filters and stuff too. Never though of it as
art, just something fun to do to learn Photoshop.

    http://www.mindspring.com/~lunachick/gallery/index.html

Some of the photos have quotes from chat, and they ain't all clean, so
    be warned.

  12. Luna--I LOVE TMBG! Are they still maing music? Im out of the music
    loop, these days.
My best friend's son spent the weekend with me and was playing their
first or second tape and I said, "WHO IS THAT?"

Their lyrics are oten brilliant. I figured they must be long gone by
    now.

Oh, by "invented" or 'discovered" or whatever you might call it, I mean
nobody on web tv had used Image Magic tudio for more than making cards,
banners and adding text to photos. I believe Image Magic can be used by
PC folks as well as web TVers. Im pretty sure.... think it was made for
PCs and the guy who designed it made it also web tv 'friendly".

Im not familiar with Photoshop, so I dont know what all you can do
there. But Id be surprised if they have more options than IM. It's
    pretty impressive.

I looked at some of your photos, but I couldnt tell what you did to
them. What did you do? I mean, were they altered? from originals? Can
you do animation at Photoshop? That's so fun.

Your site is really good. Very well done, too.

  13. FOB! fabu! How, exactly, did you do it? I mean, what are the steps,
like what do you start with?

I was trying to do an elephant one time, behind two pillars, but I
wanted the center, between the pillars, blank, as if you could see thru
the elephant. His head stuck out from behind one pillar, his rear behind
the other, and a clear shot between the pillars of the lake and grass.
LOL...I was about 3/4 insane when I finally just gave up--the measuring
had to be so exact...and the placement of head and rear so perfect...I'd
comp the head to the pillar, look at it...nope, two pixels too
high...drop it, do it again...nope one pixil too low...do it
again...sigh. my hair practuically turned gray. I think I worked on it
about six hours before I just gave it up.

Other tha that super-precise kind of thing, tho, it's pretty fun.

Photoshop can do lots of stuff. It's awesome.

The photos on the "chat gallery"? Or my "photos" page? The gallery is
    here: http://www.mindspring.com/~lunachick/gallery/index.html

I hope the scripts work on webtv.

All of those were altered from originals.

Most of them I just erased around the person and added a new background
or objects. Sometimes I just played with filters, and sometimes I
overlapped more than one image and played with the blending mode.

Sometimes I did requests, like the one for Stufsocker. She sent me just
a regular photo of herself, and she wanted her head on the Sphinx, so
    that's what I did.

Astro was a name used by a married couple, so I combined both of their
    pics together.

Adribach sent me her prom picture, and I scanned an inking I did in 8th
    grade for her backdrop, lol.

Some of them are obviously bad visual puns on their chat names.

The challenges were interesting. Some of the pics were so small, or
blurry, etc. I wanted everyone's face to still be recognizable, except
for the ones specifically asked not to be, like cooldudette. Or fungi,
who sent me a cartoon of a mushroom. Mozz's pic was from a scan of a
newspaper clipping, so it already had this weird texture to it.

Adobe makes another program, ImageReady, which does animated gifs. I've
also played with Flash, which does vector animation. I'm not a big fan
of either of those in use, except in strict moderation or when
    absolutely necessary.

Thanks, Nicky. That was a fairly simple comp--one face, one waterfall
image. "Less is Best", they say,LOL.

    Wine?

    Never heard of it...

Dryer wines are usually more conducive to staying in Ketosis, or so I
have personally found. I generally stick with Merlot or Burgundy, and
limit the amount to 1 or 2 glasses. This way you can stay in Ketosis but
it will still slow your fat loss a bit. :-)

  19. I just put my face on a "stolen" body. I use PhotoImpact, it uses the
concept of objects. I selected my face and converted it to an object which
I then placed on the other image. You can do all sorts of things to an
object, resize it, rotate or tilt it, change the coloring so it better
matches its new surroundings. I have a website with basic instructions for
using PI, done a few years ago and it refers to an earlier version, the
newer versions have some more advanced tools but the basics are still the
same. Haven't been able to update the site because I lost the ability to
access it to edit when Yahoo bought GeoCities and I tried to contact Yahoo
but they never responded. It shows some of the basic things you can do
with it, I created it to help some friends get started.

It's good to know if I ever switch to a PC, there's something similar to
