Yesterday I didn't count or measure. I didn't eat anything strictly
verbotin (like cake or ice cream, even though it was my birthday) but I did
decide I would give myself the day off from measuring. I did ok, or so I
thought - I had all the same things I usually have, with the exception that
hubby took me out to a steakhouse, I got a salad w/ bleu cheese dressing and
a steak. The steak tasted like it had been tenderized but I didn't think
too much of it...until today. I've had all this energy for the last month
or so, and now today I've been so logy and sleepy (got plenty of sleep last
night) and feel just like I used to feel, pre-LC - totally blah. I've gotta
think it was whatever they used to tenderize the meat? Because everything
else I ate yesterday, I've eaten in the last month, and it didn't cause
    this!

No replies required 🙂 unless you've had the same thing happen or have any
    insight...?

(BTW - still doing great, lovin' how I feel - until today - and how I just
    keep shrinking!)

If the meat was tenderized, it's very possible that it was loaded with MSG.

That's exactly what I was thinking.

Could be...we used to eat several times a week at a friend's Chinese
restaurant but haven't since I started LC over a month ago. If that's the
problem, maybe my system isn't used to it anymore, or maybe that's one of
the things that helped keep me so logy before.

  4. The longer you stay on your plan the more sensitive to changes it seems -at
    least for me.

I just completed a 13 day vacation. Ended up with a urinary track infection
from the extra coffee?occasional bread? equal ? soda? Sugar in foods? All of
the above probably. I stayed as strict as I could and didn't gain any
weight, but still wasn't in the usual routine & I hardly ever get sick.

Tip: After a VERY sweet vinaigrette dressing ruined one good dinner salad at
a good Cuban restaurant, I started asking for oil (3parts), vinegar(1 part),
and mustard(1 part) on the side. make your own dressing with a little
sweetener on the side of the salad and toss.

  5. thanks Sherry- first real trip to Miami. Loved Cuban food- but definitely
not low carb! Too bad they can't take the carbs out of fried plantain.
Versailles on 8th St is great. huge menu 24 hours a day, that you could
still stick to your plan if you wanted to- but I wanted to try out the Cuban
    fare.

I've discovered that the more adults you take on a trip the longer you spend
waiting for each other. When in Ft Lauderdale take the water taxis!! great
entertainment for $5 all day pass. Weston, Fl was a upscale area- lots of
safe neighborhoods to walk miles- but far from the beaches. So I walked
while everyone decided what we were doing next.

Sawgrass outlet Mall is the largest outlet mall in the world- I hardly
bought anything, but it took 2 hours of speedwalking to see the whole thing
we were there to tour colleges- so I probably will be back again.

BTY- my carry on for the plane was packed with strawberries, nuts, cheeses,
salad. Airports are much better these days for healthy foods, but my
strawberries on cheddar cheese was a far better snack than the cookies the
    steward was handing out.

    Good tip, thank you! 🙂

I hadn't heard that before, re: your first statement. But it does make
sense, if our bodies get used to running on a certain type of fuel after a
while and then we throw sugar in the tank - so to speak 🙂 - I can see how
that could happen for some people!

Other than your UTI, I hope you had a good time on your vacation and it
    was
    all worth it 🙂.

I have to ask did you swim on your vacation or maybe just sit in water?
UTI's are caused by bacteria please take a look at this site.

If I even look at a body of water that is not treated I get a UTI.

Yes Angie, I did swim and use the Jacuzzi in the master bedroom, and that
definitely could have been a factor, other than the unplanned sugar I was
    eating.

UTI's definitely are a unwelcome souvenir
