Averaged out it's only $1441.34 per year or $144.13 per bike per year.
Fourteen hundred bucks is what it costs to insure one car for a year.

$1400 a year for insurance? That's Canadian dollars I hope! If it's USD you
must be a high risk driver. Hmmm... maybe your *own* poor driving is why you
tag all drivers with the appellation of "scumbag scud jockeys".<g>

P.S.- I adjusted your numbers because I'm guessing your "veloraptor" costumes
    aren't cycling-specific.

It really matters where you live -- I paid a lot lower insurance when I
lived in a small town in upstate NY, than when I lived in an urban
neighborhood in Southern California. The issue wasn't my driving skills, it
was the risk of theft and damage.

Dinos often dance with the art babes, chopper grrlz and other
bikesexuals but they do look best on bikes. In fact, I even have a
    Dino specific bicycle.

That $1400 is definitely Canadian dollars. That is what my former wife
paid the last year (2000) she carried comprehensive insurance on her
Suzuki Swift. She had two speeding tickets.

As Claire pointed out, it costs more in metropolitan areas. Lots of
people register their cars to their Whistler address to avoid paying
    their full share.

Insurance rates are vastly different by zip code, and a lot of step-9 (no
incidents in 10 years) drivers are paying over $2000 US for insurance.
Other drivers in other places are paying much less, despite less than
    perfect records.

So it's an entertainment cost rather than a cycling specific expense. It may
    still be deductible.

I was figuring that $1400 was Canadian. That makes it a bit more palatable.

I'm aware of that. Insurance that costs me $870 per year in the Chicago
suburban area would cost me just over $1000 in the city proper. (I have no
tickets on my record but OTOH I don't drive a Suzuki.)

I assume Whistler is a bedroom community of Vancouver but no matter. If they
can afford two residences they can afford insurance.

It's a ski resort playground. Site of several World Cup and 24 Hours
of Adrenaline mountain bike and cross-country races. It's the home of
    the 2010 Olympics sliding venues.

It's about 90 minutes north if you break all the laws trying to get
there in the advertised time. Closer to two hours in traffic, longer
when it's snowing. Providing nobody wipes out or there's no rock
slides and all the bridges remain intact.

Sure they can afford insurance on their luxury type scuds. The point
being - they're cheating since they spend most of their time driving
around in the GVRD. (Greater Vancouver Regional District which does
    encompass the bedroom communities)
