Oh, I guess I'm just chop suey then...
I figured there was more than one when he said that.
I also considered picking on Larry for being a TKD'r and not a
karateka, but I don't know him all that well and didn't want to peg
myself into the wrong hole here being newly back to posting. (After
all, I did banter with Charles and quickly got a stern warning from
Dally, so who needs to know exactly *how* thin the ice is.)
What do you train? I personally hold a low level black belt (Sho-Dan)
in Shudokan karatedo and study japanese sword as well.

I think it's great there are other MAs here. And I won't defend TKD, simply
because I've learned that no style is ideal, and every style has something
to offer. Which is why I've studied other styles.
So, pick away!
I was funning with you more than anything. My favorite one though is
that if your neighborhood is ever under siege by a rouge group of
bicycle messengers you will definately be looking for a TKD practitioner.
I have been to the TKD school here in town quite a few times. They have
aspects I like, and they are quite fun to spar with. Makes you much
better at reading and defending kicks.
I just can't force my head around some of the concepts that are in
direct conflict with some of the things I have been taught for 8+ years.
Dittos on the no style being ideal/complete.
I have taken classes in TKD, Shudokan, GoJu, and Aikido. I really really
wish that there was a KungFu school in my area. I would love to take a
couple of years of that. But I will always stick with my roots in
traditional Japanese/Okinawan MA's.
