week and goals.
MON 0:50 1/2-effort
TUE DNR
WED DNR
THU 1.10 1/4-effort
FRI DNR
SAT 1:20 1/4-effort
SUN 1:40 1/2-effort
The planned runs on TUE and WED were written off as total losses to
sweet nothing, on FRI due to a blood donation, and on SUN the long run
was cut short because it was unhospitably cold (6°C and a bonebreaking
wind) despite a splendidly sunny sky.
On SUN I finally got a measure of myself: 1/2-effort for 18 km resulted
in a steady 5:05 min/km; I wasn't too discouraged, considering that the
redcell deficiency must've turned it into a kind of altitude run (which
means I could probably knock off 5-10s/km), although I'd harboured a
faint hope I'd have been a good 15-20s/km faster.
I imagine that if I had the bottle to try 3/4-effort now, I'd be at
about 4:30min/km pace - and neither the idea of running at 3/4-effort
nonstop for 3hrs nor improving the pace at that effort by 20s/km within
foreseeable future seem too daunting to me...
