Do a screen capture, clip it down to the message only and save in compressed format which is marginally slower than transcribing it usually ;-)
Don't forget a window capture is quite a lot smaller (alt-prtscn on windows boxes)

I generally top post when replying to office/work emails (using MS Outlook), but I also convert everything back to plain text (alt O, T, Y) as everyone, including clients, seems to have html mailing turned on. Otherwise the formatting becomes very complex.
