I'm sure that your Maplins thermometer will do the job just fine.

Incidentally, though, if anyone is still interested in the Kestrel
2000, there are a few quite reliable-looking sellers on US eBay who
offer them at about $86 (i.e around £45). Even allowing for VAT
and/or import duties, that could be a pretty good buy compared to UK
prices.

Hmmm... I'll look at Ebay- Wife's sister is in the US
and pops over quite often. So VAT / Import duty
not too much of a problem...
