  1. How about this sort of thing?

    http://www.anemometers.co.uk/anemometers/kestrel_anemometers_2000.html

As well as temperature, it does current, maximum and average wind
speed together with wind chill, which could all be interesting out on
the hill. Unfortunately, though, it costs around £90.

There are other similar instruments in the Kestrel range and this
particular one is fairly near the bottom of the range.

  2. Norman,
They look really good. Pity about the price.... :-(
Obviously a very professional piece of kit.
I ended up buying one of these yesterday....

I thought that at £2.98 I couldnt go wrong - we shall see !

    Thanks,
    Roy

    Roy,

I'm sure that your Maplins thermometer will do the job just fine.

Incidentally, though, if anyone is still interested in the Kestrel
2000, there are a few quite reliable-looking sellers on US eBay who
offer them at about $86 (i.e around £45). Even allowing for VAT
and/or import duties, that could be a pretty good buy compared to UK
    prices.

  4. Hmmm... I'll look at Ebay- Wife's sister is in the US
and pops over quite often. So VAT / Import duty
not too much of a problem...

    Many thanks,
    Roy
