Indeed. But there is more that can be done. A geared hub would let it go faster. And make it shiftable on the fly. How about a geared flywheel that rotates faster than the tire? It'd be a little harder to get the wheel rolling from a stop, but once it's going the ride would be a lot smoother! Plus, the added stability would make those drops easier, no doubt. Turning would also be a lot smoother. Hey, I think I'm onto something! Hold the phone while I run out and get a patent... -- maestro8 Those are my principles. Beautiful work, Evan, and a great idea. Now I understand why you were so
curious about making your own bike hub, shaft collars, etc.
I agree with whoever reccomended anchoring the brake cable before the
caliper. That seems like a good way to protect the caliper.
Great foresight to bolt on the actual footrests for the plates, instead
of welding them on. Now you can play around with plate sizes, etc
without worrying about a whole new brake apparatus.
To prevent rubbing, could you just make something like a fender going
over the wheel? It would be some work to fab, but clearly not beyond
your abilities. You obviously don't need to use the rub to control the
wheel anymore.

Evan made me this thing to play around with. It was just a proof of
concept kind of thing and we know what we would want on a better
version.

I don't see how that works... If you let go with your legs, it could
fall in front of your wheel and make you face-plant. That looks darn
dangerous!

No, the plate is tightened against so it moves with the plate. The only
way it could fall down is if your plates flip over (not going to
happen).
