Yes... and die. This death will likely occur somewhere around 40-50
    days of no-carbing.

May the Lord continue to "give us this day our daily bread" in Lord

No. It's actually a way to treat existing hypoglycemia
or prevent it. Going to zero is major overkill though.

Something else does happen. Go near enough to zero long
enough and you'll eventually fall out of ketosis. The
few Inuits who still live the traditional hunting lifestyle
on the ice can go years close to zero carbs are not in
ketosis and do not lose. The mechanism involves the
hormones leptin, T3 thyroid and some others. It might be
called a "starvation mode" since it includes a stall.

All those Inuits and Eskimos over the centuries suddenly
die. Think of the shock on their faces when some so
called doctor makes a false statement and the way human
metabolism changes magically. Or, uhm, not ...

It's very easy to think that if low carb works, lower
carb must work better. It's not true. Going lower and
lower eventually triggers reactions that turn loss down
not up. For folks with over 100 pounds to lose that
"eventually" part doesn't come until they are down to
well under 100 to lose. For folks with less to lose
the earliest it seems to come is 6 months but it can take
    a couple of years.

The human body manufactures all of the carbs it needs. Eat zero
carbs and your blood sugar never falls to illness causing
levels. Eating zero carbs does interfere with weight loss and
it's easy to end up with vitamin deficiencies but folks who
do it do not drop dead.

What about all those kids who are on a ketogenic diet for their epilepsy?
They don't die from this. They are able to survive years on it without
problems. In addition, their families often go on the ketogenic diet without
problems for the same time period.

You may recall that glucose can be genereated from amino acids (protein).
In addition, IIRC, glycerol from fat can also be converted into glucose. In
addition, the brain is able to use ketone bodies for fuel. There is an
absolute requirement of the brain for glucose, however. (Not all of the
coloric needs of the brain can be satisified by ketones). And, IIRC, the
heart will use ketone bodies and fats before using glucose. And muscle can
burn ketone bodies and fat as well.

    Here's how:

Please note that God truly made this special link describing that He is
the great "I am" and that His message is as simple as the number 2 which
is a number between 1 to 9 and reminds us of His 2 commandments, the 2

Also, note that Exodus 16:16 continues to remind us that 16 oz plus 16

Yes... and die. This death will likely occur somewhere around 40-50

What about all those kids who are on a ketogenic diet for their epilepsy?

A ketogenic diet is not the same as a no-carb diet even though a no-carb
    diet would be ketogenic.

This is wrong. A no-carb diet is not necessarily ketogenic. As Jeff has
pointed out the human body is quite capable to produce glucose from
protein. If someone on a no-carb diet eats (very) much protein, there is
no ketosis. This is more than a theoretical possibility but happens
quite often to low-carbers, if they eat too much protein.

Anyway, even moderate amounts of protein are enough to produce the small
amount of glucose the body needs for the brain and the red blood cells.
So you see: carbs are not necessary to sustain human life. But of
course, as a cardiologist, you knew this before. Otherwise you should
give back your medical degrees. Which raises the question why you fail
    to write truthfully.

What about all those kids who are on a ketogenic diet for their epilepsy?

A ketogenic diet is not the same as a no-carb diet even though a no-carb
    diet would be ketogenic.

This is wrong. A no-carb diet is not necessarily ketogenic. As Jeff has
pointed out the human body is quite capable to produce glucose from
    protein.

To an extent that is limited compared to true carnivores so that a
no-carb diet (even if pure protein) will be ketogenic.

    Quoted message said:

If someone on a no-carb diet eats (very) much protein, there is
    no ketosis.

Actually, there will be ketosis **in humans** if the "carnivore" diet
excludes meats that contain carbohydrates (i.e. a truly no-carb high
    protein diet).

    Quoted message said:

This is more than a theoretical possibility but happens
quite often to low-carbers, if they eat too much protein.

Not in my experience, except in instances when hidden sources of
carbohydrates in meat are overlooked (shellfish, liver, etc).

    Quoted message said:

Anyway, even moderate amounts of protein are enough to produce the small
amount of glucose the body needs for the brain and the red blood cells.

Actually, humans are not designed to subsist on a no-carb diet. We are
    omnivores and not carnivores.

    Quoted message said:

So you see: carbs are not necessary to sustain human life.

Actually, carbohydrates are necessary to sustain human life by God's
    design.

A ketogenic diet is not the same as a no-carb diet even though a
    no-carb
    diet would be ketogenic.

Can you please list references that describe the differences and
    references
    that back up your claim?

They are by definition different. References are as necessary as those
needed to compare apples and oranges.

Thanks for backing me up. Basically you are saying you can't say how they
are different or how the info I gathered from the ketogenic diet doesn't
    apply to a no-carb diet.

Yes... and die. This death will likely occur somewhere around 40-50
    days of **no**-carbing.

The human body requires carbohydrates to function normally.

The human body can get plenty of carbohydrates from foods that are not
regarded as strictly carb foods, such as meats and fats. Again, check
your first year bio-chem text book. Restricting dietary carb foods will
not cause any life threatening problems of any kind, nor will it lead
to an absence of available blood glucose.

And there is no such thing as an essential carbohydrate. Carbs from any
source will do, even carbs from meats or fats.

You are supposed to be a doctor and know these things. Especially if
you pretend to know something about nutrition and are pushing your own
    nutritional plan.

You should be able to tell the difference between high-carb foods that
low-carb dieters restrict in their diets and the available carbs in
non-high-carb foods that are perfectly adequate sources of glucose.

In order to not get any carbs, one would have to not eat anything, and
that, my friend, is called starvation, or low-calorie/low-fat dieting.

Inuits used to go up to 7 or 8 months, or more, eating basically
nothing more than raw or boiled fish and raw seal or whale meat, and
they were extremely healthy. None died from lack of carb foods. A study
was done when 2 researchers went more than a year on a similar
completely carb-free raw-fish diet and they were healthier than those
around them. They suffered from infectious diseases and they felt fine.

I challenge you to provide evidence of one person dying or suffering
any real health problems due to a diet without carb foods. Give us one
    example.

Yes, some meats will contain carbohydrates. However, fats by definition
    contain no carbohydrates.
