I will hopefully get my "hydration pack" tomorrow. I would like to
test it tomorrow as well, by running 5.6 miles (my standard distance
to bookstore and back) with it and drinking from the tube etc.

Is this a good idea to run for 5.6 miles, given that I have a race on
Sunday. Or should I run less.

That's difficult to say without knowing your running history for the past
several months. Normally you'd want to taper. However, If you've been
running 6 miles per week, I don't know if tapering is valid.
