It's a good start, but please *PLEASE* take off that music clip. Like i
said in a previous "check out my website!" it's annoying, it repeats,
it's unnecessary and it screws up my (and i'm sure others) computers.

It really is irritating. Lose the pop-up Java message too.

    Quoted message said:

I'm all about minimalism for websites. If you don't need it, don't add
it. And 10 second clips of music is never needed

Quite right. Sometimes it's tempting to do something just because you
can, but it's not always a good idea.

    2. Then your site popped an alert box saying "Unicycling rules". I
clicked the OK button (no choice), but never saw any links or
information about unicycling rules (see my links at the bottom of the
    thread).
Don't use alert boxes unless there's a reason for them.

John, you are showing your age :p . They were using "rules" as a verb.

I assume you're posting via the www forum. I don't know if it's
possible to add a .sig to forum posts, but if so then it might be worth
creating one that includes your URL.

'Cause I CBA to look back through the thread to find it :-P

Jethro didn't get my joke. I don't know if he's showing *his* age or
not. Or if he really did get my joke but was trying to be funny on top
    of my not-that-funny.

    Or not.

    Round where?

It probably stands for something like Southwestern Uni Meet or something
like that. I was just trying to say it's always nice to spell out your
acronyms at least once, the first time you use them. I'm sure TCUC does
    this on their site.

And WOW would, if they ever find out about the WWW.

    {Boring unicycle trivia:
Before WOW, Jan Layne was the leader of the Smiling Faces 4-H (look it
up) Unicycle Club of Findlay, Ohio. She hosted her first nationals way
back in 1979! Same year she came out with the original 4 USA skill
    levels.}

One answer that brings up another question. What's 4-H?*

4-H is a national youth organization that is primarily oriented around
teaching kids about agriculture and farming. They have also branched
out into teaching other activities that aren't directly related to
farming, things like photography and unicycling.

The 4-H organization also gets involved in the county and state fairs
for things like judging the animals and other projects that the 4-H kids
have worked on throughout the year.

I was in 4-H when I was younger. I raised swine (the fancy word for
pigs) and my brother raised sheep. We'd raise the little things then
take them to the fair where they'd be judged and sold. And each week
we'd go to the local 4-H club meeting.

    Here's a little bit about 4-H from Wiki: '4-H'

I found the following news article about the Wood One Wheelers: 'WOW-ing
on one wheel' (http://tinyurl.com/brvjx). They started in Wood county
Ohio so that's where the Wood comes from in their name.

  15. First up, congratulations on venturing into the world of web authoring.
It can soak up a lot of time but it can also be very rewarding.

The best advice I can give is to write with your audience in mind. If
you are writing for youself and to learn about html it doesn't matter
what you put on your site.

If you are writing a page to inform people about unicycling it matters a
    great deal what you write.

There is a heap of advice on how to write a good site. My favourite
source for info on web design is:

    www.webpagesthatsuck.com

Read the material on here and you will learn a lot about web page
    design.

Have a good look at the top web design mistakes of 2004. I think you
have made about 9 of the 14 mistakes listed. Don't feel discourage
though, many people who are employed to design websites as a job make
    these kinds of mistakes :-)

Writing web pages is like learning to ride a unicycle. You get better
    with time and experience.

All the best with working on your web page.
