Google is a law unto itself, some other sites hereabouts have
mysteriously fallen from favour.
Reiterating a couple of points already made, fix the errors shown by the
W3 Validator (add a DOCTYPE declaration as instructed by the Validator),
and learn to use CSS style sheets before the site becomes any more
complex. Font tags and attributes such as bgcolor are not a good idea.
</br> is forbidden - it doesn't make sense.
I would lose the hit counter. They may have been cute years ago but are
now considered unprofessional at best and childish at worst. Besides,
the number they display is irrelevant (some gullible people actually
think that is the number of site visits).
Your email address is in plain text on the page - you really should
encode it to avoid problems with spam.
Good luck with your British Walks page. Nice to see the routes offered
in downloadable form, that is the way forward.
