  1. "Vegetarian Hindus have many times more heart disease than non-vegetarian
Muslims from the same areas in India."

Oh dear, here we go again. The last time you rolled out this set of
"facts" you were asked to provide a web source by which to confirm it, it
was not provided and one might conclude it can not be done this or any
other time. This is an example of the lifestyle cult in action, this one
centered on various speculations about nutrition which can not be
supported scientifically but exists soley on emotional cheerleading among
    it's adherents..

Vegetarianism is not healthy for the heart. Just ask Jim Fixx.

That might be true in India but if you look at the studies of Western
vegetarians vegetarian diets are actually quite efficient in preventing
heart disease. The heart disease risk is about 25% lower in Western
vegetarians compared to meat eaters. (I am not a vegetarian but a fish
    eater.)

You haven't read these I see. They refute your claim.
    Are you reading challenged?

We can't--he's dead. By most accounts he died
of a congenital heart problem and may have
extended his life significantly by his jogging
program. Can you verify that he was a vegetarian?
Can you verify that his putative vegetarianism hurt
his heart? Get help, TC, you're hallucinating.

    COMMENT:

Fixx was a runner, not a vegetarian. He didn't have any congenital
heart problem but high cholesterol. Which he did nothing about, but
run, till one day he fell over. Maybe running did help him. Probably it
did. His coronaries were all basically nearly closed on autopsy, and if
you can run on that, you're doing pretty well. Of course, he couldn't
keep on like that forever. I think of him as the world's greatest
example of "cardiac rehab." Without the primary treatment....

I wonder why he didn't take a statin drug????
He probably refused to take one because
he believed running cures all ills. So another
    one-solution-for-all-problems thinker made
an early final exit. I know a woman in her
late fifties who took up jogging and pounding
the pavement ardently. I suggested she halve
her jogging program and try glucosamine.
She kept up her jogging program until her
knee problems terminated it, probably forever.
