I've been trying to buy mudguards for my Taifun for over 6 months now,
and not a single Challenge dealer in the country can help me. I've
just today ordered some from the Netherlands. Of course, by the time
they get here it will be spring. Bah.

I disagree. During the winter months my local roads are frequently wet
enough to throw spray and road [censored] all over the bike and me,
regardless of which one I'm riding. I hate having to fret about what
I'm going to wear and in what condition I'm going to arrive at my
destination so for me mudguards are a must on most of my bikes. I keep
a lightweight summer road bike which, for reasons of weight and
aesthetics, doesn't have mudguards, but I want them on all my other
bikes. I find when using properly fitted SKS guards I have no rattles,
no alignment/rubbing problems, just a clean and dry ride.
