I have a small dent on the edge my clincher Mavic Ksyrium SSL wheel from hitting a pothole. I need to know the best way to get this out?
Use a 10 inch crescent wrench to grab the rim wall, adjusting the wrench to just fit the cross section with its nose in the bed of the rim and carefully bend the dented side wall outward, first in the center of the ding and then both sides gradually getting it straight. This is the best tool for that task and usually makes the rim almost as good as new depending on how carefully you do this.
Good advice and the only reasonably alternative that should be followed as a friend of mine found out that the cost of a replacement rim for this wheel is like $150 or more!~ Yow!

The more I hear about Ksyriums, the happier I am that I didn't get them. Guess I'll stick with my ponderous CXP-33s.

Weigh them and you will see that they aren't that 'ponderous'. maybe 200 grams max(6-7 ounces) and even with a 105 or Veloce hub, superior rear hub to any modern ksyrium.

Hey, from a mfr's viewpoint, it makes sense. Although a replacement rim, is *offered*, they want you to believe "why bother, you could get a whole new wheel for a few dollars more".....

Well the other 'real problem' is that eventually, the manufacturer will not make this rim/spokes and the hub, which should last many rebuilds, will be an expensive pen holder.
