I have been eating a Paleolithic Diet for 20 years. I eat no grains,
beans, potatoes, milk of other animals or refined sugars. These are
not edible to Primates without technological intervention.
I'm now 53 years old, six feet tall, 150 lbs ( 7% body fat). I no
longer have diabetes or arthritis. I never work out but have
excellent muscle definition and jogers have problems keeping up with
me and my hawk when I take them hunting. I eat like a pig often
consuming 9 hamburger paties ( 3 "triples" hold the buns) when I go to
McDonalds. I have eaten a full pound of bacon every morning for the
entire twenty years.
My son Gray-Hawk has been eating this way since conception. When he
weaned himself from his mother at age one he ate almost nothing but
pemmican ( the ultimate low-carb food)for over one year. He's now nine
and considered a gifted athlete, tested at genius level I.Q. and is a
very gifted artist.
Increased animal fat consumption since the invention of railroads and
refrigeration has added more years to our lives than any other
statistical factor. Recent nutrition studies of hundred year olds
done by a leading medical school ( U of Georgia see biblography at
website))have shown that these long-lived individuals difer from the
rest of us only in that they eat more saturated animal fat than most
people.

Thank you Ray, a very inspiring post. Can you detail your condition
prior to starting your diet? Was it much worse than your present
condition? Do you eat cooked products? (I noticed you referrnig to
eating bacon, but I eat it raw, so maybe so do you)

Here's what I ate yesterday
1 slice of sourdough bread
300 grams of smoked beef brisket
2.5 lbs of tomatoes
1 lbs of cabbage
3 medium raw eggs
2 ounces of brazil nuts
1 big peach
1/6 cup of oatmeal
This is not incredibly far from the paleo diet, although, obviously,
bread and oatmeal are not "paleo".

The FDA only released their Food Pyramid in 1992, so I have a better
question: Is there anyone in the world who has eaten by the Food
Pyramid guidelines for two decades? Which is to say they were
already doing it before the guideline was published. Yes, it is
that recent. How did it effect them?

I've read your book. Thanks.

Interesting phrasing "milk of other animals".
Quoted message said:I never work out
Your book has an exercise program. Why don't you call that
working out?
Quoted message said:but have excellent muscle definition and jogers have problems

You mention falconry in your book. How many have you outlived
so far? Facinating pets I bet.

I bet it's actually second. Sewage treatment to have ready
access to clean fresh water likely beats it by a bit.

This article is about Sumo wrestlers in Japan who have been following
(exactly) the USDA Food Pyramid for centuries. They also work out
strenously every day. They have the highest occupational rate of
heart disease in the world!
I went to an obesity conference here in Dallas a few years ago. Of the
13 weight-loss experts in attendence( from Harvard, Yale, The Cooper
Clinic, etc.) I was the only one who was not over-weight. Of course
none of them knew that the Japanese had preceded them in their
theories centuries before. We can learn much from traditions far
older than our own.

I bought your book Ray. Have not yet received it. I am curious, you
eat so much meat and bacon, how are your blood lipids? Also, you said
you eat a pound of bacon in the morning, do you eat anything else? Is
that cooked or raw bacon?
I also decided to make some pemmican, my meat is drying right now.
