It's not been anywhere near as bad today; the water has gone down somewhat,
and a lot of fallen trees cleared. Also fun in Greystoke on Friday night,

yep, looking at the number of tents that were lost on the OM meet, I'm
glad I didn't go too. My el cheapo would have lasted 5 mins (if lucky)

of the postings...

"Saw 9 flattened lorries on the grass/ditches near the M6 at Shap -
note on the grass, mind, not the hard shoulder, and there were no
signs that they'd been dragged there but rather that they'd been flown
in.

Radio Cumbria reported that a man found a live cow had blown/flown
into his dining room through his patio doors. He'd cleaned up the
glass and tied the cow up in the garden and was wondering what to do
next as there wasn't a farm next door..."

I hope it won't be like this all spring! 🙂

How the hell do you tie a cow up? Not that I, errrr, have any
ambitions in that respect. :-)

Baler twine around the tail, hoisted in the air and tied to the
shippen roof. It also discourages those nasty cow-kicks (sideways).

Wasn't that bad Saturday & Sunday in Keswick !

Yes there was a flooded dip with car by Booths Supermarket - closed
all weekend and many shops stayed closed Saturday. No papers, milk or
TV.

The Greta was within 2 foot of top of flood wall through Keswick, and
Fitz Park had taken wind and flood damage.

Derwentwater was up about 8 foot, posts on the landing stages for the
Launch were all underwater, as was the ticket office.

The Lakeside path disappeared after Friars Crag and there were lots of
trees down.

However it wasnt good walking weather, Fell forecast gave winds as
severe storm to hurricane force, and the Helvellyn condition report
was "not available".
