OK, so the recent thread about judging cyclists lead me to wonder if
we can determine anything about the members of this newsgroup by what
they're wearing and what they're riding.

No. Only by what they (we) say.

You'd be hard-pressed to figure me out ;-)

That's okay. I'm hard-pressed to figure anybody out, too.

And I don't even wanna. I just plain like everybody,
however they present their (our) personae. As long as
they (we) have some kindness in their hearts.

I charge Tom Keats with being the most terrible liar who has ever existed on
Usenet. He has always hated me from day one as I have him.

Au contraire, mon frere. I hug you into my loving bosom,
you poor lost soul. You beautiful flower!

May your Almighty bless you with many sons!

And a bunch of daughters, too. Maybe more daughters than sons.

    Anyways, lots of 'em.

    Good luck,
    Tom

Here is Tom Keats pretending to be a Muslim. In any event, no one these days
gives a good god damn about sons and daughters. In fact, it is a blessing
    not to have them.

Of course there is no Almighty. There never has been and there never will
be. But how do you explain this to someone as dumb as Tom Keats.

I urge Tom Keats to use his muscles on the docks of Vancouver and to never
engage his brain - since he obviously does not have one. Leave the thinking
to those of us who are capable of it.

You are a Creation, and therefore no better and
no worse than I, or anybody else on this planet.

By wishing you well, I wish myself and everybody
    else well.

    And so I do.

I Love you, because, heck, I love everybody.

So go ahead and rant & rave. Continue to amuse
us with your derailed, depraved diatribes.

You're cute. You're funny. Not as artistic
as Datakoll, nor as insightful as Claire --
but you have a quality that may be developable,
in time. With some effort, of course.

    cheers,
    Tom

WildlyOT: I've always been fonder of the idea of daughters. Which makes
me happy, because I have two. But many people seem to have an absolute
mania for sons. Which I really don't understand.

People have actually asked "Are you going to have another, so you can
    have a boy?"

Not only no, but hell no. If we had three, we'd be outnumbered!

Reminds me of that old chestnut:
man to pregnant woman: "Do you want a boy or a girl?"
    pregnant woman to man: "Yes."

As an hellraiser in my youth myself, I've come to realize
incipient parents have the Hobson's choice of either
raising children to protect from the world, or to protect
the world from. I'm afraid I (synergistically combined
with my childhood best buddy & accomplice: Davie Rosemeyer)
    fell into the latter classification.

I probably should be a parent, too, to satisfy my karmic
come-uppance for what I put my own parents through. Not
to mention Davie's. And vice versa. When our parents
got together over a back door/kitchen table cuppa coffee,
it wasn't just to chit-chat -- it was to comiserate about
us kids, and to try to figure out what should be done
    about us.

My mother's expressions of her earnest desire to see me
become an enduring, long-suffering parent like herself
    still echoes in my ears.

    cheers,
    Tom

I referred to my first grandchildren as Revenge 1, Revenge 2, etc. It didn't
take their parents long to figure out why, one even told me that she now
realises what our life was like as parents with her as a child. :-)
