Since the Bike Events brochure came in the post, I've been thinking
about doing the Manchester 100 ride in September.

I'm a very overweight 30-something who mainly uses her bike for
pootling to the shops and such. The furthest I usually ride is about
5 miles. Oh and my bike is [censored] (tho there is a possibility I might
be getting a shiny new one in July).

How realistic is it that I could be able to cycle 62 miles in one day
by September? Obviously I'd need to train/practice, can any suggest
    how much and how often?

I reckon very realistic. I'm an overweight Mancunian 40 something who used
to be able to do 100 miles in a day, but haven't done more than 15 this
year. If you can do it, I can do it. Drop me a line privately and let's
see if we can set up some weekend rides out for practice. I live in South
Manchester, about 3 miles from Bicycle Doctor.

thank you, Steph - you have mail.
Isn't this interweb thingy a marvellous invention?

It would be an ideal arrangement if it comes off. Training with a
partner will make life so much easier. The 2 of you should probably be
thinking in terms of preparing for the 100 miler, with the 100K as a
    fallback.
