  1. : Got type II Diabetes and High blood pressure, which is now controlled by
: medication. But not the blood sugar. This is another good reason to
: low-carb. It fits me well. I do not like sweets. I would rather eat ham
    and
: cheese than bread. Although, I do like bread as well but I can manage
: without it.. So it does fit.

I don't have Diabetes or High blood pressure, so others will need to chime
in, here. I can tell you though, that my "normal" blood pressure of 120/75
has gone down to 96/60 with exercise. Of course, that is with years of
exercise (not overnight by any means), but I wanted to mention it because
exercise will make your blood vessels wider, thus allowing your heart not to
work so hard to pump the blood. It will also strengthen and enlarge certain
parts of the heart, making the heart muscle itself stronger.

: 1 - I read people say their blood sugar had plunged to normal on
: induction. Mine has not. It is up there around 200 and higher. I am taking
: Glyburide. 10mg in the morning. It used to work. Not anymore. Been on
: Glucophage. It was as useful as [censored] on Ernest Borgnine. So. Why am I not
: showing improvement? Is a high spike normal on induction?

Just not enough passage of time, yet? Stay on the diet and things will
    change.

    :
: 2 - Should I even care about the Ketone sticks not showing but a MAYBE
: trace? Is it too early? Once they do show: does it matter to monitor, or
: just enjoy the weight loss.?

My Ketone mark never got above "faint" and yet I lose 40 pounds. It's nice
to see the color, but I get the feeling that isn't actually tied to weight
    loss.

    :
: 3 - Zero Carb, or 20 daily? Heard it both ways. Zero is bad. Gotto have
: "something" or things won't work. Should I just avoid it altogether, or do
: use the 20 allowed for the system to be sound chemically?

Follow the Atkins plan with 20 gm of carbs in induction. Induction is tough
enough without making it harder--and, if you eat a lot of salad, that helps
    with any problems with constipation.

: 4 - I don't want to lose muscle. What exercise? Aerobic, like pound your
: heart? Or Weight. Yoga? (I HATE exercise. I live in my head. I just visit
    : the physical world🙂

The secret is finding something you like to do. Start with walking. I prefer
cycling and swimming. I used to play soccer until my ankle gave out. But, a
person can love exercise if they find something they like. How about weight
lifting? You get instant feedback there and you are doing something for your
    body.

: 5 - Vitamins? Fish oil? Multi? Fiber? Flax seed? Psyllium? Absinthe?
    (That
    : one is a joke.)

I needed to take vitamins because initially I got leg cramps. I think it was
a deficiency in Magnesium. Atkins recommends vitamins, though. You may need
to get some fiber powder or pills to add to your diet in induction to
prevent constipation. Anyway, this diet is pretty low in fiber and a person
should have about 25 gm of fiber a day. As I added more carbs, I cut back
on the fiber powder and now I don't use any at all. But, I also became aware
of what fiber I was eating and added more.

: 6 - What behaviors to develop. How to monitor progress. And NOT to over
    : monitor.

I would say, don't weigh yourself every day. That leads to nervousness about
food. With this diet, since you don't go around hungry all of the time, you
can put food on the "back burner" of your mind. Food should not be all you
think about every minute of the day. You will see more progress in how your
clothes fit than in the scales, I think.

    : 7 - I don't have a scale. Does it matter?

It gives you ego gratification, but it isn't crucial to the success of the
diet. You'll see changes in your body when you look in the mirror.

Sorry that you got hit hard by the resident self-hating troll. I think
that's what it is---self-hatred. No normal person would spew invective on
people they do not know unless he had a mental problem to begin with.

  3. Now who's the one spewing threats from behind a keyboard?

Thanks for the good advises. I do get to put a mosaic of personalized
plan out of bits and pieces of information that trigger some ideas that'd
    work for me well.

And as far as the Koenig guy goes.. I've seen his kind many many times. A
keyboard jockey. Feels safe to spew [censored] from a distance. If someone like
this would walk into a group of people and started mouthing off like he
does here, they'd get hurt. If he greeted me in life, as he did in this
group, I'd slap him so hard that the snot would cut a thread on his neck.

As it is, my experience tells me, that if a dog barks and I get upset,
it's my own fault. The dog barks. That's what it does.

Once again, thank you and all you other kind people. I'm doing great on my
4th day or so. (Maybe 5th?) It is not "easy." But nothing really is, if
    you
    care to do it right.

    Best Regards,

    Steve
