    It's not "Adkins", it's "Atkins".

Welcome, Daisy! That is great that Atkins worked so well for you... 100
pounds is a real milestone. Are you starting over with Day 1 because you
gained all or part of the weight back? Or do you have more to lose? Either
way, you know that this Way of Eating (WOE) really does work, then.

I look forward to hearing more from you! Let us know how things are going.

Excuse me.....I have read the books what are you the spell check
police??? Why not offer support to the newcomers instead of
    criticism??? Or are you capable?

Thanks for the welcome.....when my parents died I gained it all back

  6. I have just started as well. Hi everyone! 🙂 I weighed in at 208, at
5ft 9. I have been on the Atkins WOE for 10 days and lost 9 pounds. I
am so excited but I dont see it when I look at myself. People say that
my face thinned out a bit, and I can see it, but very subtly. I was
just wondering if that happened to anyone else when they first started.
I only hear of people not losing weight, but noticing drastic changes.
Im sure it will start showing as i keep going, but I was just wondering.

  7. Hi Angie 🙂

Yes, when I started and lost my first 10 lbs EVERYONE was saying they saw a
difference in my face and neck. Now I'm down 67 lbs and I still don't see
it! Even when I look at pictures, even though last winter's clothes are way
too big for me...I still don't see it when I look in the mirror!

Whether that's normal or not I don't know but yes, it's happened to at least
    one other person...

Congratulations on getting off to such a great start! 🙂

Welcome Angie, I bet you've seen changes in your energy levels though
    right? Congratulations!!

    Daisy

  10. Not only my energy but i used to get acid stomach 24/7 and i havent had
to take a single tums, or prevesit (i think that is how you spell it,
not at home so cant check). I thought with all the meat and oils and
fried foods i am eating that would increase my discomforts, but on the
contrary took them all away! I think that is the most amazing thing. I
love meat, and i am a power eater but with this diet i am not hungry in
between, and if i feel a little weak ill pop 4 walnuts in my mouth or
10 olives and i am full till next meal. Before it was non stop eating.
Thank goodness my metabolism was decent because i was one heck of a
    glutton! :o)
And thank you guys for the support!

Hi Angie, welcome to the group!

9 lbs in ten days is GREAT! You may not see a noticable difference at
first because at least half of that was probably water, rather than fat.
That's because for each molecule of glyogen in the emergency liver store
there are FOUR molecules of fat bound to them, so as you use it up in
the first few days before you get into ketosis, the water molecules are
shed -- then the REAL fat-burning begins! Also, around week 3 many
people experience a week or two without losing anything -- it's normal.
There have been many times when I stopped losing any weight but some
definite "rearranging" seemed to be going on. In fact, I almost ALWAYS
perceive that my body has gotten smaller up to a week before it actually
shows up (or DOWN, as the case may be) on the scale.

Once you've achieved ketosis, losing 1-2 lbs/week is very GOOD --
anything more than that is an added bonus. Your rate of loss will
depend upon lots of factors, so stay the course and you'll figure out
what YOUR personal trend is. I, for instance, lose very slowly. I
started out at about the same weight (but about 7-8 inches shorter), and
it's taken me over two years to get to this point, but I DID lose it and
am PROFOUNDLY grateful that I gave Atkins a try because not only do I
look better, but I FEEL so much better!

Yeah, those major life-disrupting events are good for triggering the loss of
focus that sets some of us back on the carb wagon. BTDT. I guess that's one
of the major lessons we need to learn... how to have [censored] happen and *not*
lose the focus on our health needs. I'm gradually getting better, but it has
taken years. Still, the fact that I'm improving is encouraging. 8-)

Do keep letting us know how you're doing, and don't take comments that can
be perceived as negative too seriously. There has been soooooo much trolling
and negativity here that even the helpful folks here... who are definitely
in the majority, BTW... get cranky every so often.

Hi, Angie, and good going on the 9 pounds! Good news about the acid
indigestion being gone, too. I get that whenever I eat bad for more than a
couple meals, and it is a pain. I never get it if I am eating pretty lc.

I remember that there was a point pretty early on in my weight loss that I
noticed my face was thinner. For one thing, on lc you lose the slight edema
that so many hyperinsulimic people have, and that will really show in your
face, sometimes your hands and ankles too. It's nice to get that feedback
from people so early on, isn't it! Also you'll start to see it in the
    mirror!

Keep up the good work, and let us know how it's going for you!

Just so you know, Daisy, JC is our resident troll. Most people kill file
him. You should feel slighted if he *doesn't* insult you at least several

I used to have heartburn all the time, but I literally cannot remember
