  2. if you have a bunch of money, and nothin to do with it, and you're
bored, then sure, I guess. they're not really good for much though, and
you could get other much more practical unicycles. but it's your
    choice.

  3. I suggest you wait to get a giraffe. If I recall correctly, you haven't
been riding very long, and don't really have a good unicycle yet. I
suggest you get a good regular unicycle, and learn to ride it well, then
start looking at getting a giraffe. I really don't think it's a good
idea to ride a giraffe unless you can ride forward, ride backward, and
idle on your regular unicycle without really thinking about it.
Otherwise, you're just asking for trouble.

  4. I bought the Savage 6-footer a month ago.
What can I say? It's really scary, it's a lot harder to ride, and
there's not much I can do on it.
    -but the girls love it.-
If it wasn't for that, I'd say it was a waste of money, but they're
-really- impressed by it, so it all depends where your priorities are.

  5. what is the quality of this unicycle though, like what can it hold up
to? also i am wondering how good is a torker tx?

  6. I've got a torker TX, it's fairly decent quality, i've not seen the
savage but would imagine it to be about the same, up and down kerbs and
a little light hopping is fine but if you were considering anything
tougher then it won't stand for it. Also, as with most budget giraffes,
you can bend the frame if you drop it repeatedly. I don't know how much
the savage goes fo rbut the torker is often on ebay for $100 I bought
one from an American online juggling store for $140. Skippii's right
though, the girls do love it 😉

  8. The best cure for a giraffe obsession is to go visit a unicycling club
that has a giraffe unicycle to loan out. Play with it for a day.
You'll discover that it is not difficult to ride but just takes a little
getting used to. Once you've played on one the initial novelty wears
off. If you get truly hooked on the giraffe then you can buy one.

The problem with giraffes is that they don't get ridden very often.
They spend most of their time in a back corner neglected because they're
just a PITA to get on and ride. A standard unicycle is much more
practical and will get much more use. But if you've got money to burn
and space in the garage to store the then then get a giraffe. They are
fun. Just don't be surprised when you discover that you only ride it a
    couple times per year.

Which reminds me, I need to dust off my giraffe and ride it around.

  11. I am really into municycling and am getting my first giraffe next week.
I am not sure what to expect when I start to try and ride it.

Just out of interest. I saw a young guy locally doing trials on a
giraffe and watched people riding off road on TWNR. Is there any such
thing as a trials or Muni giraffe?

  13. I got my first giraffe today. I can ride a Coker and some pretty rough
muni. I have only had very limited time today putting the giraffe
together and trying to get on it.

It scared me silly, but tomorrow is another day.

  14. I found that my giraffe was easy to learn on... Didn't take more then a
couple of hours. (Learn'n to mount it did take longer, but master'd it
now)! I think it really does depend on your priorities. I am a clown,
'n it works great for parades!

    I find that....
    Pros:
    - Every thing is in slow'r motion. There's more of a react'n time.
If you lean forward there's more time for ya ta peddle ta get the bike
    back under yourself.
    - It's an attent'n gett'r (Ya thought ya were called a clown 'fore?
    Just wait.).
    - Small ollys, 'r hops, aren’t tuff (actually with the react'n time,
lets you sit idle long'r without peddl'n)
    - Dismount'n is a breeze, 'specially when ya dismount forward 'n catch
    the bike behind ya.
    Cons:
    - There's a lot of drag, 'n go'n long distances will cause your legs
    ta burn.
    - It's not a fast bike.
    - The bike is heavy'r 'n hard'r ta make big hops.
    - The bike takes some distance ta get off of, 'n when ya have several
people circle around ya when you are (street) perform'n, you have to
make sure you aren’t near anyone when you dismount.

Like I said... My two cents worth!

  15. Thanks for the tips and I like your writn style. I had another minimal
contact with the giraffe after a 1 hour muni ride (on my muni). I had
white knuckles hanging onto my 4WD roof and riding back and forth on
dirt. Did a few dismounts, got on a few times and generally got the feel
    a bit.

Dismounts feel like jumping off a building.

    Cheers Mal

than a regular uni, and like someone pointed out earlier, -girls love
    it- 😄

Me, my sister, and my dad have all ridden it.

  19. Hey, you can't beat riding a giraffe, they're definitely attention
getters. I do have a 6' Savage giraffe that I bought off of Uni dot com
a couple of years ago & I can freemount it pretty consistently. I can
also hop on it..... however, I have noticed that it is developing a
slight warp to the frame thanx in part to all that hopping, coupled with
the pull of the chain in that same direction. I may have had the chain
too tight at some point, that sure didn't help. I still enjoy riding it
as do several of my uni-friends. Now that I've had one, I'd probably
have to replace it if it ever tore up. If you get a 5' giraffe it will
probably be a tad stronger just because it's shorter & just won't be
able to bend quite as easy. In other words..... get a giraffe, you
    won't regret it!!
