Many of these methods *have* no merit.

    Strictly David's opinion.

Ah! So there aren't many which have no merit?

Is that what you're telling us, Jan?
(Wouldn't want to misrepresent you, now.)

Seems like I just said that yesterday.

You said a lot of things yesterday, and directly
contradict them at other times. One has to ask
to be sure which lie you're telling at any given
    time.

Searching for a good liver/gall bladder cleanse. Any recs?

    I'm just curious...
Why do reputable doctors who apparently have a lot of medical knowledge
find it worth their valuable time to hang around on a natural healing
forum and tell everybody that these methods have no merit?

I wonder if David has the slightest clue as to why nearly one-half of people
    are turning to alternative medicine??

Must be sumpin wrong with conventional.

Once again, let me point out how the world really works. The "turn" is to
conventional medicine. It's true that "alternative medicine" in all its
variants is at a peak of popularity that is a product of the "New Age"
movement of the '70's. So all those new-agers, now adults with disposable
income and still distrustful of conventional authority, seek their routine
medical care from the naturopaths and psychic healers who feed into their
mystical, spiritual worldview, and sell them a feel-good style of
healthcare. This is fine for the everyday, self-limiting kind of illnesses
that young people tend to get. But when they get REALLY ill or injured, they
come running back to the old family doc, or to the emergency room, usually
bypassing the aromatherapist and iridologist entirely, knowing instinctively
where the REAL medical help is. Jan's fantasy of the patient going to the
doctor and getting no help, then finding satisfaction from alternative
medicine happens only to sufferers of psychosomatic disorders. An even for
them, the trend is to leap from one alternative modality to the next,
experiencing a miraculous "cure" with each, only to relapse until another
book or website sells them on another "therapy."

Chiropractors, accupuncturists, and massage therapists do get an overflow of
chronic pain patients from conventional medicine, because chronic pain is
often incurable, and difficult to manage, so patients seek symptomatic
relief from these other sources. But even these patients are, almost without
exception, still taking their prescription medications for pain, and still
go to their doctor for their other healthcare needs.

Even terminal cancer patients who get defrauded by altie quacks offering
cancer cures usually continue their chemo and radiation treatments as well.

A few MHA posters have stated that they will NEVER go to a regular doctor.
It'll be interesting to see what alternative therapy they select for a femur
fracture or a myocardial infarction or a gastro-intestinal hemorrhage.

Homeopathy, no wait... aromatherapy is better.

  5. I wouldn't go to my car mechanic for gastro problems or a chem/cut doctor!
As a very last resort I might but usually would live with it rather than
    inviting more infection and cancer.

    What is your point?

    What is your point?

A gastro-intestinal hemorrhage, also known as a "GI Bleed," is a serious
emergency. Your decision to "live with it" will work just fine until you die
with it a few hours hence. The point is, as we say in the emergency room,
    "All bleeding stops...eventually."

Our point was, is, and always will be that Gym Bob is a bag of steaming feces.
Your point, Gym Bob, is on the top of your head.
