  1. my doctor has a 1 hour brain functioning test that costs $100 - I am
considering it. I am not sure why this myth of needing carb to function has
been so hammered into our heads. What I can tell you that carb/sugar does to my
brain is make me irrational, [censored], sick, depressed and horny (not that that
is always a bad thing) ;-)

Because your brain *does* need some carbs to function. However, you
don't need to eat them - your body will make enough from protein to
    cover its needs.

  3. Just a note here - IQ tests do not test brain functioning, they test IQ.
Better tests that you could do are reaction time tests and cognitive
functioning tests such as those used to determine if people have dementia.

horny is a good thing for myself personally.

As far as the $100 test of brain functioning, I personally would take
some tests from an IQ book, it is cheaper this way, although the
doctor tests are probably better. low blood sugar may, though, affect
your memory in a way that is not detected by an iq test. so there is
some advantage to a more thorough test.

Keep a complete diary, it is better is there is too much detail than
too little. including what you eat.

Do you have a blood sugar meter? I would invest in one if I were you,
    in the interests of science.

When I read your initial posts I admit I brushed you off as a flake,
but I can see where you're going with this now. Horny isn't a bad
thing - the rest of those symtoms can be debilitating. You seem to be
doing all the right things to track your progess, so good luck to you
and PULEEZE keep posting your results.

Are you talking about glucose? Your body does not make, nor does your brain
    require 'carbs'.

    Yes.

Glucose *is* a carb. Your body can make it from certain proteins as
needed. While your brain can get up to 75% or so of its energy needs
from ketones, the remaining 25% must be gotten from glucose.

Which is well supplied by protein.

Well I am glad you do because sometimes doubt even creeps in for me. I don't
want to gain weight - I never really thought of that as a possibility here. I
used to be overweight - I dont want that life ever again! Initially I dropped a
pound and a half within the first 2 days - I am back up the pound and a half
today. I am really upset. I am one of those girls way too swayed by what says
the scale!! Part of me wants to revert to old behavoir and to hell with this
diet. I want a protein shake damnit! Nice, sweet, creamy.... instead of a
breakfast of --- pork chops? steak? fish? Maybe I ate too many calories
yesterday? hmmmm - this is disturbing. Maybe I should only get weighed once a
    week??!

    Didn't you say you're a size two?

If so, then you urgently need help with your eating disorder. No kidding.
Your thinking seems classically distorted here.

  10. Size 2?? Ha - I dont think someone with my size chest could ever squeeze into a
2! :-) You have me mixed up with someone else. I am a size 6 :-D p.s. my scale
was malfunctioning. I have still lost 1.5 pounds - just need to do it on the
medical scale at the gym - it seems the cat has jumped on my scale one too many
    times!! >^,,^<

Uh, size 6 is pretty darned small, too. I second the suggestion you get
some help with your body image problem.

  12. I'm the size 2 the other poster is thinking of and opposite to you
chest-wise (not even an A-cup). I think the other poster wasn't paying
close attention to what she was reading.
I was guessing you'd be a 6 considering you posted your weight at 120 lbs.
And one of my sisters is very large-busted, so I can relate to what you're
    saying. :-)

Lost all that weight just to have 34DD's. Funny isn't it? Now all I hear is
women whispering "implants" when I walk by. I want to be like "Look honey, I
was obese - I lost the weight - I deserve to be thin with big [censored] now
    ok??????" :-)

It might be dated, but you're wrong. The brain does need carbs. Note the
qualifier: people with healthy glucose tolerance.

But congrats on what you've acheived. Impressive.

  17. Not off hand - you could try any of the websites of groups such as
Alzheimer's Australia (I am from Aus) or do a search on cognitive tests and
see what comes up. Tests such as the mini mental which may come up are
probably not as sensitive as you would want

Okay, quite possibly, can you point the OP in the direction of these

  18. proud2lovecats,

Good luck with all meat. I know several women who eat this way due to
major food allergies, and all are doing fine. One woman has been doing
it for two years and says she feels great. They are also very thin but
eat as much as they like. One does low calorie along with all meat and I
do feel she is too thin but she is maintaining her current weight and
    not trying to lose anymore.

You do have to keep up the fat content - two of the women add extra
clarified butter to their meals or else they feel a little weak every
    few days.

I also have major food allergies and do mostly meat but have not been
able to commit myself fully. I can't go more than 3-4 days without some
variety. But the women tell me that after about a week or so of all
meat, the meat becomes very satisfying and they have no cravings at all.

    Good luck.
