Presumably he meant something like, "there is an outside chance that a
cycle helmet will prevent a serious injury if you /crash/, but it is
highly unlikely and should not be relied upon for anything much beyond
preventing grazes".
Or perhaps one of the sites he should be adding is www.cyclehelmets.org
and having a good hard read of it too.
